Ride quality/comfort

Guys,

I'm currently driving a 2016 F82 M4 w 18" and dynamic suspension on the streets of downtown Los Angeles and the ride is pretty rough. I keep it in comfort and I have to steer around so many potholes and still hit so many skull-jarring bumps that it tires me out after work every day. Thinking of a couple replacement options:

1. Get a base X5 and a Cayman S/GTS manual
2. Get an X5/6M and Turo fun cars on the weekends

So I want to discuss option #2 here. I'm sure many of you have driven F80/82 M3/4. How would you compare the ride of 2015+ X5/6M to those cars? What's your roads like and how's the ride comfort where you are? How much rougher is the ride in the X5/6M vs in the X5/6 3.0/5.0?

I went from a 2015 M4 with adaptive on 19"s (lowered) to 2018 X5M. Its not even a comparison. The X5M is so much more comfortable. I haven't driven the standard X5 but I heard the X5M is more stiff. I live in SoCal so I know what you are talking about and you will have no issues with the X5m.

I had a 2015 X6M which was much more comfortable than my current 2017 M3 w/ ZCP, even with the X6M suspension in Sport Plus.

So I had a X6 without adaptive suspension, on 21"...omg

Looked at the M3...same hard ride...

Philly guy....roads suck

Got a X6M...the above cars aren't even in the same category nor shouldn't be used in the same sentence...lol

And X5/6 M your be so happy you'll be looking for the holes...

Thanks guys. I'll test drive one when I have the time but wanted to get some feedback first. Car and Driver always complains how harsh X5/6M rides but I guess SUVs are on a different standard.

In my opinion, anyone that thinks the X5M/X6M rides harshly just needs to give up and get a Cadillac already for their Sunday outings from the retirement home. To me it feels extremely comfortable even in the sportiest suspension mode.

I wouldn't call it comfortable in sports+ suspension mode but that's where I keep it unless traveling a long distance with the family. Comfort mode is as comfortable as the seats will allow. I love the seats in these vehicles but there is not much comfortable about them for my body type.

I agree with you. I think my F86 is very comfortable.
