South Carolina? Was not sure if Europeans actually get it from some other factory.

Saw a Glacier Silver for the first time last week in the dealership showroom with the M sport black trim.
Must say its a great colour, not one I would pick without seeing it.
Its similar to the Mineral white but with a hint more silver.
So congratulations on a great spec car.
Don't forget to post some pictures.

P.S. the car is made in South Carolina - the wait when crossing the pond is unbearable especially when it goes via Germany first

Reminds of the painful journey my E90 had from Munich to NY in 2007.

Yes my instinct was to go with one of the darker m sport colours but having now owned a med blue g30 and a titanium silver e61 I prefer the lower maintenance silver colour. It's amazing how much dirt it hides compared to a small amount which makes the med blue look trashy.

Yes I now realise this with my Carbon Black.
Great colour when clean

I understand it is a quality assurance check before arriving in the UK. All X models have to do this.

Assembly complete now - final checks apparently.

Also BMW Genius says yes the car does not go to Germany - it goes to Belgium for logistical reasons (probably all cross atlantic cars come there) then will head over here presumably with a bunch of other cars from the continent to UK...

It doesn't make much sense. The car is built in US and then QC is done in EU. If the car doesn't pass QC, then what? It is shipped again to US?

I'm sure the QC is in US, at the factory.

New X5

What a great spec!! These are great cars and I have to agree about the colour, we have Carbon Black but with Smoke White Nappa leather Comfort Seats which we absolutely love . As X5M50D says the Carbon Black looks really sharp when washed but does show the dirt quickly.
Ours was a CPO buy so had no say in the specs, but would have liked the HUD with Speed Limit display. The Adaptive suspension gives a great ride, a good compromise between a sporty drive and smooth ride while Sport Mode really sharpens everything up and is great for overtaking .
Enjoy your X5 and can't wait to see some pics.

Does anyone know if I can try to follow the car on the ship etc? I know the american guys can follow theirs - which boat, the progress of the boat etc... can we do it for the X5s coming the other way?

From what I remember, the dealer could follow it in detail.
BMW NA did not have detailed info.

I went in wanting a 30d too (test drove one for the day and found the power sufficient to say the least). But then realised the 0% deals were only on stock cars so dealer searched like mad and found one with the least compromise which was a 40d. Paid the deposit and signed the paperwork, then found out a few days later someone had already bought that one!

Disappointed as we were we actually found ourselves in the lucky position where the dealer pulled some strings and found a free manipulatable slot and got me the full spec I wanted!! At that point we went up to a 40d and now I'm playing the old patience game again!

Great choice on your X5! Silver is my favourite colour on most cars and makes a nice change from black or white, which is mostly what I see.

I've got the Sapphire Black and it looks shite unless it's clean - can't wait for the summer!

The only issue I've found so far is the brakes aren't M Sport and I've had a couple of instances where I've had close calls as they've not been as sharp as I'd expect.

I suppose coming from a much lighter car with M Sport brakes, you get used to the instant stopping power.

Other than that, look forward to hearing about your joy when you finally pick it up
