New BMW X5 Questions!

Hi all,

Parents just recently bought a 2014 X5 xDrive35i M-Sport Package. I got 2 main questions.

1) So I was wondering if it's possible to play media through bluetooth, such as, Spotify, Apple Music etc. I am able to connect my iPhone 6S via bluetooth but only allows it be connected as "Phone 1." Is there something I am doing wrong or anything?

2) Another thing is software updates, I have read that the BMW update website is outdated, but was wondering what should I be at? The software page in the car says
"Media: MN-003.001.002
Phone: TN-003.001.002"
Then when I plug in the VIN on the software update website it says
"MN-002.055.071
TN-002.055.070"
I am sure I am more updated than the website but should I be further past that?

Thanks!

Hi,

Congrat on your new car. Hope you ll love it.
#1: if all you need is to stream from an app, Bluetooth audio is working fine. You need to pair your device, go to the Tel, Bluetooth, go to the Phone name, press Option Button and select Audio.
If you need more then the effort is a bit different. Let us know what you are trying to accomplish if so.

#2: software update is behind on the website so you go to the dealership who will gladly try to charge you for some work.. depending where you go.
Hope this helps.

Sorry for the late reply, but when I connect my phone via Bluetooth, it only shows “Phone 1” in options. No options saying “Audio” so is my audio package the basic package?

You can't play music if you go to media >external devices, then select your phone with the Bluetooth symbol next to it?

You may need a "visual" lesson to figure it all out. There are multiple videos on YouTube on how to pair your phone to BT music streaming.

BT (bluetooth) music streaming (A2DP) is an additional feature vs BT telephony. So you need to make sure both are checked off to stream.

Go to YouTube and do a search using something like "BMW Bluetooth music streaming".
