2016 X5 - sloshing sound

Hi

I have a 2016 X5. I just noticed when I drive around I hear a sloshing sound of water in the cabin. I have checked the entire car thinking there is a half empty bottle water but nothing was found. This started after Ida. The car was parked on the driveway and we didn't have any flooding though very heavy rain. What is could be the issue and any recommendation as to how to fix it?

Thank You.

Check the sun roof area. The seal could have been compromised and rain water leaked inside. The drain could’ve been clogged up with debris and not allowing the water to drain. Good luck and keep us posted.

I did have clogged drains before and it created a puddle on the passenger side foot well before. I had that fixed and haven't seen any water since then. I'll check the door drains next. I saw on a video on youtube that water could be accumulating in the frame but that was for a different model, not sure if it applies to the F15.

Hi

I found the source of the sound. It is from the passenger side door. When I swing the door I can hear the water. I also checked the drain plugs on the passenger side door and they were clear. Any suggestions to get the water out?

Thanks

Take a zip tie or some trimmer string and stick it up the drain holes.

stocktree, i did just that. took a zip tie about 10 inches long. It does not seem to have any clogs at all. I tried it on the drain hole in the front and the back. Notice there is water underneath the door right below the seal. Do you think compressed air will do better?

Are you looking at the holes at the very bottom of the door, along the body seam sealer? If you can stick a zip tie in, then it should be clear enough to drain something.

yes I am looking at the holes in the front and the back along the bottom of the door. I tried with a zip tie and also with a hanger. Does it seem to be blocked at all. The zip tie and the hanger went all the way in. Very strange.

I loosen the screws toward the bottom of the passenger side door panel and a bunch of water came out. I tighten it after all the water came out and now the sound is gone. This seems to point to issues with the vapor barrier. Will probably see how it goes with the next rain storm if it continues to be an issue will have to open the panel and fix the barrier.

That's strange. There shouldn't be water on the inside of the the door shell.
