Rain sensor power connector is constantly on for plug and play dashcam
Hi folks, I have a 2018 40e. The dashcam never turns off as power to the sensor seems to be constant even when the car is off, is this normal? I wanted to avoid running wires to the fusebox.

Ok, locking it seems to turn it off after 12 minutes but simply unlocking it starts it back up. I can live with that
Edit: I installed it yesterday while the car was on the charger, I guess some systems don't turn off while it's charging. It works as it should now and turns off after a few minutes Last edited by Straddle55; 04-08-2024 at 12:24 PM.. |

Just a generic "4K" cam that replaces the windshield sensor cover. It looks factory and the footage is not bad at all.
This seller was great to buy from and confirm fitment as there are 2 different types of covers: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...xcg#nav-review |

It's good enough for my needs for sure. A tiny bit of noise in the footage, but pretty sharp. The fact that it receives power from the rain sensor was the best part for me. It also came with an 8' or so traditional power cable for the fusebox to go that route. You will need to hardwire it if you want parking/motion recording.
Here's what looks like the exact same dashcam with the same chipset's footage looks like, only this one is more expensive because of their branding. I'd say the aliexpress dashcam footage looks the same to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2PK_ehdZtI Last edited by Straddle55; 04-10-2024 at 01:01 PM.. |
