I have a good story about arguing with cops. I got stuck behind a state trooper in a construction zone. Once the zone ended he proceeded to drive 68 in a 70 at 5am on a Saturday morning (I was heading to a track day). I did the same behind him for a few miles, but than I just couldn’t take it anymore and I resumed my cruise control set to 75 and passed him.

He light me up and told me I was rude for passing a cop car. I told him he was rude for bothering me for 5 over on the interstate with no traffic around. He then asked if I knew what the term limit is. I explained it was the maximum amount of time an elected official can stay in office. He gave me the ticket for 5 over. I laughed all the way to the track and had a great track day.

Then I took a online safety class while drinking a few 40s and got the ticket removed.

In many states and cities it's a hefty fine for making illegal U-turn. It's not posted either. They just assumed that you know not to make a U-turn unless there's a sign that allows it. I know because I already got a ticket for such an occasion.
In my state U-turns are allowed unless otherwise posted.

If it was outside Chicago, you might have prevailed. But inside
Chicago you have to deal with Section 9-16-040 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code

People who don't use the onramp to get up to speed and expect me to slow down or move over.

Big problem here in OK with all the turnpikes.

Entitled pooheads that think they're too special to use a blinker

Lifted diesel drivers(inevitably they drive like crap and roll coal all the time) and always speed through my small town's downtown area

Left lane hogs/people that don't yield to faster cars

People that merge at 40mph onto a freeway

Big rigs that pass other big rigs on two lane freeways at 2mph faster than the other

People that get mad when you pass them on the right when they're lagging butt

When 2 lanes merge into 1, with my lane being the one which is still driven....the car in front thinking he (she) is entitled to simply merge, cutting off basically, without signaling.

I think half of the drivers would fail a road course test (without studying) if they were subjected to it.

My dad got pulled over for this in Chicago in the early 90's. Exact same situation--there was no sign saying he couldn't make a U turn, cop was in a good mood and 'let it slide this time'. Makes no sense to ME that they can ticket you for breaking an unposted rule but cities make their own laws

I'm guilty of being shitty with my turn signal, but only selectively. I'll use it when there's cars around me, but if I'm not too near others I just do one signal or none at all.

BMW stereotype in action baby.

Do you realize how bizarre what you just said is?

You are saying that all laws have to be posted?

It's your responsibility to look up and know the laws. Different places have different laws.

Well yeah, I acknowledged that different places have different laws. Never said it wasn't my responsibility to know them.

With that said though, it'd be nice to have a warning for obscure situations like these, when a driving law in one city is different than most others (IE, most places say if there's no sign prohibiting a U turn, you can make a U turn; apparently Chicago requires posted permission).

People who run their high beams all the time. I often notice they run them to compensate for not having two working headlights. Here's a hint- fix your damned headlight instead of blinding other drivers!

I figured it out today while driving on an errand. Most drivers are dyslexic...so the slow drivers drive in the left lane, the average drivers drive in the middle lanes and the fast drivers drive in the right lane!

Many good ones have already been mentioned but the one that always confuses me is if you are driving and someone cuts in or merges right in front of you when are literally the only car on the road...lol... like they literally cut in front of you now they have to run away from you because they couldn't wait an extra .5 second to merge in.

The zipper merge sounds fine in theory. But in practice what I find usually happens is traffic has come to a halt and cars use the "ending" lane as a passing lane, then that's another story.

For example, you're on a highway and the lane to your right will merge into your lane ahead. Traffic is stopped, the right lane is clear, so car(s) behind you leave your lane, passes you and then merges ahead of you. They've essentially cut-in in front of you causing you to be further behind and stopping/waiting even longer.

Not only is this frustrating but I think with more lane switching back and forth, it causes more traffic than less.

Another one that I haven't seen mentioned yet is when someone decides to unnecessarily stay in your blind spot for a length of time on a multi-lane road.

I make it a point to, when it's safe to do so, avoid of other drivers' blind spot. I wish others would do the same.

One interesting thing I have found through vigorous scientific testing is that it seems when there is an accident or construction and a lane is temporarily blocked causing a traffic jam... the BLOCKED lane tends to move faster than the open lane next to it.

Adjust mirrors correctly. That’s the real travesty.

Yes- I've noticed that too. Likely in part due to the zipper merge theory

Folks that go said speed in left lane, you go to pass on right, they speed up. I usually cut them off. As a rule I ignore the stupid on the road, that one always elicits a response.

My wife used to think these things listed were coincidental or accidents, she knows otherwise now.

There are simply as many assholes as there are dumb people.

They really need to do something about construction vehicles that go on the highway and aren’t cleaned off, or have an open cart. Every time there’s one on the highway you can see debris flying off them and hear them spray your car with chips.

Everything everyone listed but the one that irritates me the most is someone that hits their brakes before they put on their left blinker and I get stuck behind them.

And it boggles my brain how people drive right next to tractor trailers. WTF? I'm only going if I can clear him, otherwise I hang back until it's clear, and then kick it and go. Don't people realize if the guy gets a blow out or any number of other things happen they are toast?
