X5 tail lamp assembly removal

I had an incident where a tractor trailer parked behind me at a customers visitor parking lot and crunched my rear tailamp.

I've seen youtube videos that show the X3 removal that has a fastener on the body and the whole lamp comes out. On the X5 there are 2 x 8mm nuts inside the rear qtr panel and I wasn't sure if I have to pry it out or if there's a hidden fastener somewhere.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or maybe recommend a good shop manual?

Thanks

Also remember that the online part database sites that provide diagrams...will also reveal the hardware that secures parts to the vehicle (hardware is indicated by the encircled numbers in the diagram). If you pull up the rear tail light diagrams...you can see that #4 is what you're referring to...and the QTY column lists four of them are required...which would mean two for each side.

Go to the website at the following link, enter the last 7 digits of your VIN (or select the appropriate buttons)...then type a search phrase (or word) in the search box like "remove rear light". Scroll through the list for one that says something about removing rear tail lights from the tail gate. It will probably have an additional link on how to remove the trim from the tailgate so that you can access the tail lights: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/

The diagram in the posts above shows that a nut (#7) secures the tail light assembly that is on the hatch.
