2015 X5 drivetrain malfunction

Hello

I have a 2015 X5 3.0d , 170K km on it.

I had a Drivetrain malfunction coming up.
I was lucky to pull the SUV on the side. SUV was not drivable.

Tow the x5 to the dealership.
They cleaned fuel injector as they noticed a leak, replaced battery as was not recharging and replace fuel pump.

Got the car from dealer to home, Car was fine, after 3days I drove the X5 again for over 50mins. I got exact same problem Drivetrain malfunction.

Tow the X5 back to dealer, the spent around 10hours by getting advice from BMW technical to repair the x5, they still cannot find what the issue with the SUV. They looking to charge me for the diagnostics

Very dissapointing, BMW dealer was suppose to be certified BMW expert.
The x5 is a 2015 model, not a new technology. I assume they might have come to this problem many time. Yet they not able to determine the cause

What should I do at this point, should I complains to BMW Canada Customer service for a resolution.

Thank you

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately dealers are expensive and very often dont do a good job in finding root cause for issues which are not simple or repetitive despite the fact they have the best tools and access to BMW technical specialists.
Their business model is based on commission and not customer satisfaction.
The good news is that a lot of people are willing to support based on their own experiences and I still believe there are very good shops ... just need to find one.

On your case need to understand and collect data from dealer explaining the reason the parts were replaced. Normally this is based on error codes ask for the report. On this case seems to be related to fuel system. If the engine light is related to the same error codes they cannot charge you. You can also go to autozone / oreilly and scan for codes (free service) and research / compare with the original failure.

by the way : since a long time injectors dont need to be cleaned this is just a money grabber ... even OEM dont recommend that.

Keep us informed.
