BMW F15 BC Racing Coilovers
Does anybody know why is it that BC Racing offers coil overs for the F16 X6 and not the F15 X5 with standard suspension, I checked part numbers and they both share the same exact suspension, shocks, springs, strut mounts etc.
Is there a specific reason or maybe its just that they don't know its the same. https://www.bcracing-na.com/products...eries-coilover http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=31_1061 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...&q=31316851747 Now on the BC Racing web site it specifies as AWD, the F15/6 do have different shocks for AWD and RWD but the shock mounts are the strut mounts are the same. Would it make a huge difference to put AWD coil overs on a RWD? and thats only on the front, the Rear are identical part numbers. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=33_1743 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=33_1743 |

I know not the same car but when I had my Lexus GS, some folks tried running the rwd coilovers in the awd GS/IS and experienced rattling noise and what not. It wasn't until BC came out with an AWD model that the noises went away. The 06-11 GS had the same suspension as the 06-13 IS. There must be a reason why BC didn't come out with a set for the X5 which you'll have to ask them I guess.

I've been in contact with BC a lot over the past couple of weeks about this. Long story short, they know it should work for the F15 but they will not claim they do until they get an F15 in house to do testing.

This is the response I got from them.
You're correct, we do not make an X6 kit for the RWD. But, in the past, we've found that if we make a kit for an AWD platform, then it "generally" works on the RWD platform. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee it'll work but it may. If you found that all the mounting points are the same (top and bottom) then you shouldn't have any issues. The biggest difference will be that the AWD kit may be sprung just a tad stiffer than the RWD, but it'll be nominal in terms of ride feel. For your reference, the X6 P/N is I-74-BR. |

Just wondering if you have you decided to give it a try or not? I like the fact that it gives full height adjustability without affecting spring - should look good at lowest height while still maintaining same ride comfort. The only thing I'm not sure is if that ride comfort will be teeth shuttering to begin with (I mean coilovers vs stock suspension). There are lots of reviews, but as usual they all contradict to each other: for some it's "almost same as stock" and for others it's teeth shuttering. If I knew for sure it would ride well - I would have gone for coilovers long time ago.

Not sure if you guys are familiar with Silvers Neomax but they are popular in the WRX community and in Europe. I've been talking with them and I am ordering a set for testing. They are very comparable to BC from a price/value perspective but I think they are a tad higher quality. I'll report back as I go down this path....

Here's a link to the product - https://silvers-na.com/product/silve...f15-2014-2018/
I decided to roll the dice on these because these guys were easier to communicate with and I found really good reviews on other platforms. Plus this article https://www.importimageracing.com/bl...r-your-vehicle And this video post from a guy from race consulting agency where he makes some comments on BC vs Silvers. Read his comments below the video, not the video itself. The video sucks, lol - I know these are completely different platforms than our 5500lb truck and these guys are slamming and drifting but what the hell, this is a bit of a gamble so we'll see!

I wish you guys on my side of the table and know what I know.
Pay attention on those coilovers, all looks the same or similar. And there is a reason why. I just hope you guys making a right decision. 5000lbs vehicle with broken suspension is not going to be fun.

Do you have personal experience with Silvers Neomax? If they don't work out for me, I'll let you say "I told you so." I plan on posting my 100% honest, unbiased opinion.

It is suspension, another critical component for your safety. It is up to you if you want to risk your life. I am just giving you a heads up, and I am not going to rub it in your face if things doesn't goes well. I've been in the Industry for about 30 years. Started as mechanic, to sales, to R&D, until I own my own business. So, I know what are circling around in the industry. Just saying, the rest is in your hand. To answer your question though, I don't know Silvers Neomax. But from the pictures and quick browse on their website, I know who and where the product is from. Many brands coming out from that factory.

All in good fun man. I like to tinker and try different things. Highly doubt a non-KW system is going to cause catastrophic failure and lead to a lethal accident.
