What does the MPPK do?

Hi All,

Wanted to know what exactly does the MPPK do to the car? Is it that noticeable? I wanted to added it to my 2016 M-Sport that's coming in, but the online site doesn't really say what you get for it.

Increases horsepower and torque, optimizes shift points, makes the exhaust note a little deeper. The power increase is definitely noticeable and gets better over time. Plus its covered under BMW warranty unlike other piggyback tunes such as Racechip ultimate.

It is purely a software tune. There are no parts that come with it other than the software and a couple of stickers for the engine and side skirts.

Cost is usually 950-1050$ (most will match GetBMW price)plus 50$ for install. Do not let the dealer try to get any more from the install.

If you are leasing, do it now so you can roll the price into your lease and only pay for 40% or so.

In addition, it seems the 0-60 mph time goes down from 6.1 secs to 5.6 secs when the MPPK tune is done.

Yes. They quoted me the same. Its a rip off. They told me that they had to install an air intake, which is false, there is no hardware to install. It is purely a software ECU flash. They try to charge you for the time it takes to download the software from BMW's website. Ridiculous.

I got them down to 50$. Most get between 30$-130$, the latter is about 1 hour labor.

is this actual, measured, or just what it 'feels' like? thats a lot of torque increase to go from 6.1 to 5.6 and mppk gain numbers dont seem to back that up.

The throttle response and gear shifting is more agile and responsive , throttle blips around 2.2k RPM and burbles, WOT there is engine over run sound or the "farting" exhaust sound, sounds like a fast basketball dribble in the cabin

Sport Display is set to 400hp/400tq, acceleration feels faster

Not sure if anyone has yet measures the actual numbers but some say the HP/TQ given by BMW are low, the actual values may be higher.

I had the MPPK installed after 2 weeks of getting the car. Big improvement. Feels fun to drive again!

BTW, Why does the sports display show 400/400 when that's not what the x5 has after the MPPK?

Dinan measured a 335i to be around 325hp, which is 5 more than BMW claims. The 25 extra ponies isn't cutting the the 0-60 time by 1/2 a second. The extra power combined with the reduced throttle lag works together to improve the launch.

Is there a version of the MPPk for the X5 35d? BmwUsa says there is one but GetBmwParts says it does not exist. Can anyone confirm this?

There is no MPPK for the X5 35d. In Europe, the X5 30d has an MPPK though.

interesting, so with dinan on top, you could potentially be looking at a whole second + off the 6.1?? that's quite a boost...

If you go this route make sure you get he correct Dinan tune. They make one for the MPPK and one without.

Pretty much sums it up. Plus it knocks 0-60 down by half a second suggesting that the gains from the MPPK is more than listed.

The MPPK without a doubt changes the way the exhaust sounds. I use to have all types of ecu tunes on my 335 and each one made my car sound different as well.

Is there a web or reseller where I can buy it? Because my local dealer just quoted me 5,000 us!!! It's crazy!!!

Google BMW F15 MPPK and you will find it for $995
still have to find someone to install it though.

I just ordered it, will see how it compares to my RaceChip Ultimate.

getbmwparts sells it for 995.. My BIG doubt is if I really can install it, because I have NBT retrofitted...and maybe dealer will program the car...
