nope. got a sprinkle yesterday. it's just adding to the humiliation of this whole Winter tire fiasco... but I'm sure old man winter still has some fight in him yet. And then I'll get to see how the rig does in some powder

Contis DWS? Lots of options for 275/40/20 front and 315/35/20 rear. (Non-X5M staggered 20s size)

Does any one know why the Non-X5M will have a staggered setup for the winter tire options but the X5M's run a square setup?

Im considering running the 275/315 set up on my STOCK 20's not sure what the rear width of the wheel is but I feel like running 285's all around will look really off. Thinking of throwing in spacers as well (not sure on size) to push it flush to the fender as well unless anyone would advise against that.

Exclamation Run Flats On 2015 X5m F85

I Just Joined This Today So Please Forgive Anything Out Of Protocol AND IF THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN COVERED ON EARLIER POST But To Become A "full Fledged Member" I Have To Post Something Immediately I Gathered.

I Have A Brand New 2015 X5m And At 12,000 Miles Get A Nail In My Front Tire! I Had A Terrible Time Finding This Tire! Firestone Had Only 8 In The Whole United States Inventory And Bmw Didnt Have Any Readily Available Either! Tire Rack Only Had 7 And I Had It Overnighted From Louisiana! My Question Is Do I Lose Any Performance Using Run Flats?? My First 2013 X5 M(f15) That My Wife Drives Has Them And They Are Sleek Looking And Love Them. Any Advice Is Eagerly Saught And Appreciated!!!

Not sure why, both the F15 and F85 share the same hub bore, rotational diameter, and offset. You can use them interchangeably. Staggered winter setup looks way better than square, since the rear square setup looks way too narrow w/o spacers.

You can run 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 on your OEM X5M 20's, no problem.

It can't be patched??? Never use run-flats where possible, every BMW I've owned I have switched out the RFTs to non-RFTs. RFTs are heavy, stiff, and noisy... The handling is compromised with RFTS = More unsprung weight.

The nail was too close to the edge. I took it to several places and no one wanted the "liability" and bing Risk Management profession I get that but these tires only have 12K on them! It was a terrible experience for my "lack of experience"! I decided to change the tire on my own instead of waiting the hour for the roll back. Long story short, it was miserable only for the fact that I did not know to put the vet in "tow mode" !! The truck kept putting the tire back on the ground with the self leveling attribute!!
Then dealership and Firestone as well as Tire Rack.com only found 8 of these tires in the whole United States! Had to have it overnighted from Florida!!!
LEASON LEARNED on many points!!!

A number of people have been running with 22's listed below for summer and 20s for winter. All of the applications have different front and rear diameters but from my understanding none of these differences throw an error.

Does the computer figure it out that there are different tire sizes or does it have a larger tolerance that you mention above.
Do you think this impacts ABS from functioning?
thanks

Front Back Rim % Chg
275 315 20 0.07%
285 325 21 -0.62%
295 335 22 -1.31%

Your assumption doesn't include the aspect ratio. Corrections below:

20s - 275/40 (728mm tall) & 315/35 (728mm tall) - 0% delta (0.5% delta from OEM)
21s - 285/35 (733mm tall) & 325/30 (729mm tall) - .5% delta (OEM)
22s - 295/30 (737mm tall) & 335/25 (727mm tall) - 1.3% delta (0.8% delta compared to OEM)

OEM computers will not throw a code if it's within 1.5% from OEM spec. You are completely fine.

So for those with 21s, is the only real winter option to get a set of 20s?

Great thanks JNoSol - glad to hear it, didn't want to dump another set of wheels in my in-laws' garage.

No problem. You have a 991 GTS?
I want a 991 so bad, GTS would be my choice. GT3 is not comfortable enough for road trips, plus it's so hard to get one.

Just got it two months ago, traded in the M5 for it then realized both our cars (Wrangler Willys) are super uncomfortable when cold out, and that is why I am here now researching the F85, just can't stay away from BMW I guess.

I agree, gt3 would be too track oriented for me and what I was looking for in a 911.

Gotcha. The F85 is a perfect balance or beauty, practicality, and performance. My BC Forged winter setup will be for sale soon. Hit me up if you are interested.
