Great write-up. Which option would you recommend for a 2016 X5M built in Oct ‘15. Seems like Joyeauto would be my best choice given the model year i have?

Yes you are correct. The Joyeauto kit is the most popular choice right now. You missed out on the last group buy, but there's another gb forming right now on the F15 forum. Contact chanst3r to get on the list or go here: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=430

It there a detailed write-up on how this is installed or a better step-by-step video showing the removal of the panels, radio and how it’s installed etc? I’m a bit wary of possibly damaging the complex electrical system of my $113k car..

It's easy to install. But if you don't feel comfortable doing a DIY, you might want to take it to a stereo shop.

Thank you. Is adding the external mic necessary to access Siri? I read somewhere that some users were able to access Siri just fine without it. Any thoughts on that?
