F15 Interior Trim Swap...
I would like to swap out the "fine wood trim american oak" for hexagonal or brushed aluminum trim.
Anyone on here know if the interior trim is easily removed or if it is more involved with panel removals and screws?

Didn't you custom order your F15? I wonder why you got the wood trim instead of the aluminum trim? Unless you got the non-Msport line?

I have been toying with the idea of swapping to the F85 X5M trim...CF and alcantara. I'd be parting with aluminum hexagonal / gloss black trim once I do that...if you're looking for used pieces. From what I understand, the trim is fairly easily removed. Like anything, just need to take your time and take care with the clips.

A car without wood is no longer a luxury car.
Some people think this way. |

i am not too concerned with others opinions. i didn't purchase this vehicle for their tastes or opinions but my own. introducing brown into my colorway throws off the entire scheme i am trying to achieve so this may not a be priority project but it is definitely on the list to get everything dialed in harmoniously.

just one piece of advice - the hexagonal aluminum trim is extremely easy to scratch. I am really careful with everything linked to my car, but believe me...I can't say what did I do to scratch it...and in so many points. That's why I went for the CF + alcantara replacement and now it's like a new car (from all points of view). That really boosts the car's interior appearance. So keep this in mind if you go for the hexa trim. The brushed aluminum trim is more resistant.
PS the swap was done by the dealer so can't comment on how difficult it is to do it. They asked for half a day...but that was probably to take their time. I think 2-3h is a reasonable amount of time to do it. |

thanks for the head's up... i have found that with the brushed you see the dents and dings more easily that is why i was interested in the hexagonal. do you have photos of how yours looked/looks with the scratches and photos of the carbon fauxber leather?

My hexagon aluminum trim is still flawless... zero scratches or dents..
I picked up my car exactly a year ago. I guess I'm a very careful person...

I have the hexagon Alu, it gets scratched pretty easy, not with soft rash like scratches but deep scratches that are unable to remove or polish out. quiet a bummer. belt buckle or ladies handbag buckle does serious damage easily. |

I will take some pics (on TUE) and post them. I picked up some scratches on the one of the passenger's door trim (probably my wife's ring brushing against the trim) and a few on the two trims on the center console. Changed those two with the M leather knee pads.

the knee pads may be an option and a more comfortable one for me. i am fairly tall and find myself resting my knee and thigh against the transmission tunnel from time to time.

I messed up and ordered Fineline Pure Wood trim (with Black Dakota) and my wife is not happy...She saw the Fineline trim in person and does not like it at all (it's going to be her car). Car arrives next week so I'll probably have to swap hers out. Anyone in the Los Angeles area know an indy shop that can do this?
