I get a couple of pops sometimes as I'm coasting up to a light in 2nd gear. At about 5 mph, I would guess. I enjoy them, though I wouldn't want any more. The exhaust mods I did let me hear them; I never heard them before opening up the exhaust. I really can't say if the bm3 tune had any effect.

It does it on it's own and you hear it when you have a muffler delete or aftermarket cat-back exhaust. Like pennsiveguy mentioned, it happens occasionally and very mildly when you decelerate in lower gears. You can certainly get a tune that has burble effect but so far from the ones I have heard, I would not want one personally.

I can hear mine pop but only when I'm stationary with the windows rolled down. I had mppk and mpe on my 435i and it was enjoyable at the time, now I think it just sounds too "ricey", especially for a big heavy monster SUV.

Mine rumbles and pops on cold start driving 30mph lightly coasting or 25mph in 1st. Muffler delete, x pipe, & piggyback.

Popping exhaust is one of the most annoying sounds you can hear. No one wants to hear your car. One of my neighbors has a Harley and I hate everytime he drives it. Another with a mustang GT and it drives me nuts not because it pops just because it’s loud.
Popping exhaust sounds cheap cheap. I shouldn’t be surprised I guess with some of the hood looking mods I’ve seen on here. Aren’t these supposed to be luxury cars? And what’s with the opinion of these being heavy beast SUV’s? It’s not a suburban. It’s and X5. It’s a standard size for a midsize suv |

I have a neighbor, who drives a F10 550 and his car sounds like a popcorn maker. Each time he lifts off of the gas (and believe me he does on every occasion), the car starts crackling and popping very very loudly almost like a gun shot. I had the same car for 3 years and I wouldn't have been patient enough to drive it in that condition. IMHO, it is a cheap and cheesy way of telling people, who know about cars, that you have tuned your car and it is even worse when manufacturers offer cars that pop and crackle from factory.
