Looks like A LOT of people are asking about tire size in the context of winter tires

When we bought my wife's truck (2016 X5 M) she had 315/35/20 in the rear and 285/40/20 in the front. So I guess we've been bad for a while. Tires choices are limited depending on when option we go with that you spelled out in the first post.

I can't make up my mind on what wheels to get her so I need to replace them. Thinking the 275/40/20 - 315/35/20 option will work best for the cost (good deal on some Bridgestone S007A's) but performance wise will I loose anything. We love in the southeast where snow is not a worry 99% of the year but wet weather performance is paramount.

I won't lose any going with a slightly smaller tire in front will I? I also don't want it to look anemic either.

Lastly opinions on the Falken Azenis is FK460 A/S, Bridgestone Potenza S007A, Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 PLUS or straight summer tires (there's a Bridgestone Potenza Sport reviews seem ok....Looks like a closeout deal).

I've got a 2018 X5M with 612M rims (21") and I've read/lurked through this thread more times than I care to admit. I've been rolling on the MPSS as I live outside of Charlotte, NC.

We built a home in Snowshoe, WV @ 3600Ft elevation 2.5 miles deep on gravel roads w/a VERY steep driveway. The MPSS would ensure I end up lodged in a tree recreating that ford explorer scene in Jurassic Park.

My conundrum: Charlotte is rarely below 40F so dedicated winters will melt. I feel like the poster boy of the mediocre All-Season tires + a set of Konig Summit XXL chains.

The 21" tire is a PITA to find AS tires for....

Question: Is there any preference between running 275/35/21 & 315/30/21 or square 295/35/21 setup on stock rims?

I am running Pirelli VERDE ALL SEASON 275-40-21 315-35-21 no issues in light snow.

I have Continental DWS 6+ 295/35/21 squared on some BC forged wheels with no issues in light snow and ice.

For someone in a climate where anything more then rain is a rarity and I work from home...... Does it make sense to get some good all season performance tires or would I get more benefit with a summer tire that performs well in the wet?

Basically I'm trying to decide between the Continental DW06's and the Bridgestone S007A's

I ran summer tires MPSS year round in Charlotte - loved them. Now with trips to the mountains I’m looking at all seasons.

Finally landed on Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06+'s 275 in front and 315 in the back.

I know they are all seasons (ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE.....LOL). But:
- we dont track the car....
- my wife drives aggressive but shes not out racing people everytime shes behind the wheel
- had one of the best wet weather ratings and was only 2nd in treadwear rating

I'm planning on buying her some 21's or 22's anyway so these dont need to be crazy performance wise.

I have PSS's on my M5 and I KNOW I didnt do them justice. Seemed pointless to put such an aggressive summer tire on her car. And we do travel to the DMV area and as far north as Canada (We try not to visit in the winter but if you are there anytime before April theres always a chance it could snow).

Wow great thread Need help. New to me ‘18 F85 from Florida will see her first winter this weekend (I know i know).

Im scrambling to find anything other than these Pilot sport tires on the factory 21s. I found a local guy who has a set of (4) 21” Pirelli Scorpion Winter snow tires, size 295/35R21.

They are off new F96 2022 X6M. They should fit right? No issues with ECU or diff?

Bought my F85 two plus years ago with ~42k miles. It probably had worn out rear tires when it was traded in as it was rolling on brand new Michelin PSS rears when I purchased. The front had Conti SportContact 5P's. Now the Conti's are end of life, so I just put a full set of Michelin PS4S in standard sizes. The drive home was terrible as the T-case was acting bonkers. It seems like it has decided to start tolerating the new rolling radius in the front after a few drives. Anyone experience anything similar?

I run PS4S all around on my and don’t have issues. 285/35/21 up front and 325/30/21 in the rear.

I am surprised you didn’t have issues from the dealer with two different manufacturer tires on. Actually very surprised they even sold it like that.
