Nav traffic a mess

How is this nav traffic even useful? What am I doing all wrong? I can't even tell what traffic is like on the freeway since the street traffic clusters it all up. Any recommendations on how i can improve this are welcome and appreciated.

The thing about zooming in is that where I live, you need to see the big picture to figure out the best route. Your strategy depends on whats happening 2 freeways away. Its a chess game I tell you!
The BMW nav sucks at routes, although it says fastest, its not! My old nav on the 2011 E70 was way more useful. It allows you to just have freeway traffic without the clutter of street traffic.

Traffic being shown on older (E) models using CIC displays traffic in much better way than this mess.

Your settings all screw along with the view. If you switch to the other color format and bird's eye perspective it would be a lot clearer and easier to interpret the information.

Zoom in and browse the map. And agree with iconoclast, perspective view reads better and looks cleaner. And I'm pretty happy how BMW deals with routes and traffic, saved me 15 minutes yesterday by rerouting via the route I haven't thought of.

I just wish there was a sound when the Nav finds a faster router. I have to keep looking at the screen.

There's a sound, at least for NBT. "YOUR ROUTE HAS BEEN RECALCULATED DUE TO TRAFFIC INFORMATION" sound.

There is a better way. It's called WAZE. And it doesn't cost $50 a year. Haha

It’s designed by 5 year old, it doesn’t display information on HUD and I constantly beat it by 5 minutes.

Maybe you need to actually "play with the settings" and set it up correctly. Googles owned Waze is the best proven solution there is for avoiding traffic. You do have to follow the directions though and not make your own judgement every second turn. Lol

There are couple of traffic infor options in the map settings, play around with those to your liking.

The map appearance is to each own taste) I like it, or better to say, it does not bother me at all. Now, with HUD stuff... Today Apple has some announcements to do, i am sure iOS 12 will be dropped either by the end of this week, or next, and in iOS 12, i heard, there is enhanced carplay to allow the third party on iDrive, and i also heard Waze will be allowed, so we will see. )))

CarPlay do not work with HUD. And that’s one of the reasons it’s useless.

No offense man but no one told YOU to use Waze. The OP didn't like the look or functionality of the BMW Nav system hence why I gave him an alternative. and that's great you don't like it but why in the world are you freaking out over it? Who cares what it looks like it's way more accurate and updates the route much faster than BMW Nav and has more options for rerouting.

Yes it doesn't show up in the HUD but most people don't use waze simply as a navigation tool but for traffic, accidents, and cops. It'll even tell me how long I can expect to be in said traffic condition. It also does a much better job of coordinating use of express lanes especially when based on time they only work in one direction and sometimes that changes based on the city's desires that day.

Maybe you just live in a less than populated area with not many users which will affect its accuracy as it's user input based. Either way man it's ok. People can like things that you don't like or think is silly.

And yes waze is already in apple car play on fords. Would love to see it in my X5 unfortunately no car play for me. Which I'm ok with. Don't really find the BMW apps useful or as user friendly as just selecting it on my phone. But I've also never owned a car with apple car play. Only rented them or had family or friends with it. So maybe that'll change

Hard to disagree with you. If something is not on HUD it does not exist, right? What is RPM? Don't know, it is not on HUD, and turn signal ( unless coded) is not on HUD, which renders them useless.
