Weldcraft has widened thousands of wheels (including many for track cars). The welds are said to be stronger than the rest of the wheels. I haven’t used them yet but that’s the plan. It only widens toward the inside so spacers are needed to get the space to go really wide. I was hoping there was room to add 1.5” to the rear OEM wheels but after looking at the gap I have with 15mm spacers in use, 1.25” may be the max.

My current tire sits about 15mm from the liner on the inside. The edge of the wheel itself is probably 25+ mm from touching. But the tire will sit wider on a wider wheel so the current 13.8” wide tire on a 11.5” wide wheel becomes a 14.25” wide tire on a 12.5” wide wheel. That’s probably going to take up every mm of wheel well.

The front wells can take a 305/30/21 tire on an 11” wide wheel if the offset of the wheel is perfect.

Yeah I’m going to see how it goes. Might switch to 355 MP4S once I have widened wheels. Does AWD help at all with hydroplaning?
Unfortunately it does not. And wider front tires makes it worse.

Cup2's are amazing on both track and the street until you get to standing water. They just can't channel the water. I swap to PS4S in the wet months. The grip level of PS4S is actually better on the street because they don't need heat in them to work. Cup2's start working with some heat (that's what the out lap is for - to heat them up before going 10/10th on lap 2 at the track).

Mixing compounds

I would love to have those tires for the track. But I imagine they won't heat up enough during most regular street driving to realize the advantages. The MPSSs are the best of both worlds in OEM sizes from what I can tell.

It's not advised to mix compounds. If you push the MPSSs on the street before warming them up, they're slippery enough. Never mind putting a slicker tire on the rear for potentially more slide/oversteer. (Most people drive chill enough that they'll never notice the difference, but it doesn't take that much to push these tires, you can feel it when it happens too.)

Could be fun, just be careful! And keep us posted.

Had Dinan springs installed. I think it gives it the perfect drop, as the roads here aren't always the best.

I'll take some pictures soon.

I also installed a Vargas crankcase breather. It's made really well and is on sale now, so picked one up. Thanks for the suggestion Cbozz

Wish my car supported CarPlay, but it's a 2015… I do want to do the antidazzle coding, and some others maybe. Guess that's next.

9vapors,

How did you code the anti-dazzle feature? I sent you a PM.

Had Discount Tire take the 15mm spacers off the rear. These giant Pilot sport cup 2‘s now gently touch the liner in 1 spot (should burn off in a few miles) and they’re tucked a couple mm’s from flush. If anybody wants to swap 5mm H&R spacers for 15mm let me know.

Haven't done it yet brother. I don't even have any coding software, I guess bimmercode is what everyone recommends?

Anti Dazzle coding service..

https://bimmer-remote.com/products/a...hts-coding-f-g

Got mine done from them today. Really easy and it's a remote service so all you gotta do is get the e-net cable from Amazon and run windows 10 on a laptop

Anti-Dazzle

I'm on a 2017 F85. I tried this a couple of times on BimmerCode and I did not have the same menu options as he mentions in the video.

Same thing happened to me on the soft close trunk lid, BimmerCode lacked the same menu items so I couldn't code it.

Anyone have a similar issue and can offer any help?

I have looked at Bimmer Remote Coding, and this feature isn't available to the F85. or at least I didn't see it offered as a compatible vehicle.

Altho X5M is supposedly a M car, it was a champ today at Costco. Brought home a Kamado Joe with it. Just shoved that 300 LB egg in the cargo area lined with a blanket, hatch closed and hauled ass on the highway
