Be careful, don't be greedy. More doesn't always means better.

540i, 745i, 750i, 550i GT, 550i..... Now the F15. These chips are not cheap. We simply are understanding what they are and what can they do to/for our machines. Greed is the wrong term. Anything beyond smooth, consistent performance won't be tolerated. I have no problem pulling the chip and putting it in my pile of tech from days gone by in a second...... Speaking for myself I am trying to optimize my experience, not do harm to my brand new vessel. Last edited by wwanthony; 03-29-2015 at 01:09 AM.. |

I just installed my RaceChip and have it on D/1 for right now. My only question is where did you all mount your chip? I couldn't really find a decent location for quick access to it... Photos will help also! Thanks

So for the 35i, S1 dial doesn't do anything.
What is the scale for the S2 dial from lowest to highest? What should be the shipped/default setting be and is there a "stock" setting? I may consider adding this on top of my MPPK tune and I like the fact that i can adjust how much gains i want just incase i need to crank it down due to the already increased boost from the MPPK. Now the bigger question for you guys. I've had several JB products in the past and while they do work for increasing power, they always seem to make the car feel like a on/off switch with power delivery. Is there a happy setting where power is increased but not to the point where it affects power delivery? Alan

I have mine at E and it is nice and smooth. It has been about 5 weeks or so. The biggest increase is at the stock setting. When I get a chance, I will probably set mine back to B. Power delivery is smooth and consistent even at the E setting. The increase from B to E is not that noticeable. I have never tried any setting above E.....it just did not seem necessary. |

Scale of S2 dial from lowest is 8, highest is 7. So it goes like this 8,9, A, B, C, D, E, F, 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 .. The default setting shipped is B for N55/N63. Use default/shipped setting for a tank (recommended to fully adapt since sometimes depending on engine tolerance, fuel used, location, altitude etc varies on fully adaption) Power is felt at stock setting for me, for others as well.. Some are happy at stock, 1 increase, some at 2, and thats usually where most are happy with stock, 1-3 above. pdawg has tested pretty extreme settings of 4 and 5 on his 35i before seeing CEL.. I have tested 4 as well with no issues. After various talks with M235 folks in USA/Europe and receiving info from Racechip Engineers they recommend and use F (as max safest setting) paired up with their FMIC/DP/CP mod hitting 400whp. Also from various members 535/550, M235 that have tested/used other stage1 tunes and even stage2 (335), they reported Racechip being smoother and more consistent. Also, power is felt more in the low-end/midrange where as other tunes you only see it at higher rpm.

Maybe I am not understanding fully on the dials/settings but why would they confuse people with making the lowest setting at 8 and then include Apha letters and end with a number 7 as highest settings. What is wrong with 0 to 10 or A to J?

I have tested all of them also.
It is true that BMS Stage 1 does feel like an on/off setting. But, that what lead end user to believe that they get the gain. I had a customer with F13 640i, I installed the JB4 Stage 2 and he came back that he couldn't feel it. After I switch it to a Stage 1, that's when he is happy because he can feel it. As RC Ultimate, it is much smoother than the BMS Stage 1. My guess it could be because of the hardware and firmware. While the JB4 Stage 2, it has better control throughout the settings since it have all of the car information from the CAN BUS. Setting wise, some like it mechanical, some like it via computer. It does confusing why RC started with #8 than #0. But, once you are used to it, it is not that confusing.

What we need is a one plug and play solution like the 50i's. I hate pulling out engine mods before services, especially if it takes more than 10 mins like the JB install

Get one of these...
I use this all the time and it makes working on the car MUCH faster compared to using a normal ratchet set. I zipped through a dozen 8mm nuts removing the fender liner in like 20 seconds. I also have an attachment where it helps me loosen and tighten wheel lugs too. (final tightening with a proper torque wrench though)

And COBB has no interest at all to build the F15 X5 35i models. Already spoke to them.

^^ I spoke to them back then for my F10 with the N55. I don't think they are capable of cracking the F series cars. I had the Cobb AP for my N54 335 and it was the best tune for that car. I had the JB3, JB4, Vishnu etc... but i ended up liking the Cobb the most

Only reason I'm hesitant is I've had to "stock swap" yes that's what I call it on the side of the road when my E92 went into limp mode back in 2010. Not a safe environment to cover your ass lol

Just received my Racechip Ultimate from r33_RGSport
Install took 10 minutes, but only because it was the first time. 8 of those minutes were trying to figure out how to release the clips on the connectors. I can't imaging this taking longer than 2-3 minutes once you've done it a few times. First reaction is WOW! You can feel the difference immediately...I am just over 1000 miles, so still holding back...cant wait to try this full bore. I left it in the default mode, happy here although I may try pushing it a bit further after I break in the F15. The tune is very smooth, and feels like what the F15 should be set to. I wonder why BMW doesn't tune the F15 like this from the start? Thanks r33_RGSport for the advice, quick shipping and great prices.

@X5FX , great to hear that. Thank you for the nice words. Especially after hearing all the bad reps others gave me.
