Electronic lowering?

Dear members,

I am new to this forum and also a new BMW owner, i am going to get my new X5 40e next week

Is it possible at all to lower this car either by a module or through BMW diagnostic tools? I am not talking about substantial lowering, just want it to sit a little bit lower without installing springs.
The reason for this is that in Norway you need to visit the authorities after such an upgrade, so that they can approve it, and now this will take too much time for me.

Hope someone can help me

The front suspension is not adjustable. So even if you would manage to adjust the reference level of the rear suspension using ISTA+, it will look like you always have the trunk loaded with bricks.

Is it possible to lower the rear this way? I have ACS lowering springs on the front but took the rear links off because it road like shit with them. I'd be willing to try the ISTA+ to lower the rear a bit if it's possible.

Not sure, but it should be possible. ISTA+ gives you the option to calibrate the reference level for sure, so if you adjust the 2 sensors in some way, it should work...

Yes, its possible to lower the rear electronically. Thats how I did mine, any BMW mechanic can do it via their tools.

Hi Sbinshihon,

Did you then also lower the front?
I see some are commenting that they are just lowering the rear a little bit so it is even with the front?

Pictures?

The M suspension and DHP have rear airbags instead of springs. The front suspension has coil springs and can only be lowered with aftermarket springs.

Yes, front is only lowered by changing springs. Rear self-leveling air suspension (only for those who have it) can be lowered electronically by ISTA.

Yes, I used Eibach springs for the front and matched the rear electronically. You can see many photos of Eibachs lowered F15s all over the forum.

Caution: If you only lower one side your rear air suspension will go crazy! I went two days after I installed the front springs and when I parked the rear leveling went crazy jacking up one wheel all the way.
