G05 is a grand slam. Improvement over the F15 in every way and from every angle, inside and out, and this is coming from a former F15 driver. Love how current F15 drivers look for ways to criticize the G05...come on, you would trade if given the chance. Great job BMW.

Interior is hands down, night and day better in new, upcoming G05. There is nothing wrong with F15 interior, but in 2014 it was only a mild bettering/upgrade from E70. New G05 interior looks amazing!!!
F15 rear looks SO much better than G05. G05 tail lamps just scream Kia or any Korean suv. I'm not saying G05 rear is ugly, but F15 looks much better! Front view, ohhhh front view. Kidney grilles on G05 are absurdly huge, but they will be this way on the X7, are pretty big already on an X3 and the 7 Series will eventually get oversized ones too. Not awful, but current F15 looks so, so much better!! I hated, hated the F15 when it came out. Yet, fast forward to 2017...and I have had TWO!! lol But, BMW better have made sure the Auto A/C works in the G05!! |

I love the interior. The exterior is growing on me but i’m still on the fence with regards to the big grills.
I’d like to see some pictures of the X-line trim. I know I’m in the minority, but I prefer the X-line to the M-sport on the F15. I’ll probably replace my 2014 X5 with a 2020 model. |

The G05 grill looks perfectly proportioned to me, especially relative to Audi and Lexus' current monstrosities. The F15 grill looks too small now that i've seen the G05.

That is because the F15 was for the lack of a better term a grandiose face lift. It was built on the E70 chassis and then reworked from there so this truly is a completely new X5. Better or worse is still to be determined but from the looks of it the G05 has a lot of promise.

G5 interior is a bit busy with the overuse of chrome not in a elegant way. G5 exterior is barely any improvement in the front, but a letdown in the rear especially with the rear light design. But engine upgrade and new techs are the strong points. As we all know, one normally buys BMW for great performance and steady design language, not the wow factor that gets old quickly (look at Lexus...)

That's same thing as in current generation lol. It only means it is mostly RWD on highways at steady speeds. It does me zero good when I want to dyno, do donuts or go around the track.

One thing I hate is the trapezoid exhaust tips with the standard round exhaust pipe being slipped into it. I had this on my E63 and it was one of my least favorite things to look at. At a minimum make the cut further back so you do not see the round pipe pushed through.

love the interior. like the front. but the tail light is a deal breaker!! Try to align with x1,2,3, and 4? i am in no hurry to get G05. I may jump ship and check out the Range Rover Velar and Audi Q7 for my next SUV.

That narrow tail light is killing it...not sure what made them design it like this.
Every X5 generation was better than the previous. I like the E70 tail lights over these. |

the velar does not fit in the segment of x5 and q7. it is q5 x3 segment. much smaller than a q7 or x5. youre going to be cramped in it.

Thing looks bad. Dodge Durango anyone?
Way to go BMW. Get rid of one of the most iconic, muscular and best rear ends in the segment, forgoing your iconic L shaped rear lamps in the process. Also takes many cues from Audi on the interior and exterior character line running front to back. Weird! With MB's current design trend, next gen GLE will kill it, no doubt. And what's with the X5 badge on the left side of the boot now? |
