My sliding ass broke my seat (help!)
Pictures:
View post on imgur.com (Not of my ass you sickos.) So I was getting out of my 2017 X5 M Package (F15) and by some miracle of physics, as I was getting out of the car, I was able to break the plastic shield on the side portion of the seat section on the drivers side. The part that holds the seat control buttons. Anyway, I'd like to try to fix this myself since I'm out of warranty and I don't think it would have been covered anyway. It's just a break point on the inner portion of the shield. A plastic joint held by a large screw (has blue paint in photos) that failed prematurely (seriously BMW, this shouldn't happen). Anyway I did some searching around and found the component I think I need to replace, but just wanted confirmation from the experts on here to confirm the exact part I need. There are several that are very identical. Also, if anyone has done this before, a photo/video tutorial link would be amazingly helpful. Thanks everyone for reading! Realoem, like turboawd mentioned..
01 Trim, seat outer left SCHWARZ 1 52107318975 or 03 Support for cover, seat outer left 1 52107317459 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=52_3858 If you can't easily get just the plastic piece replaced/ ordered quickly, check with any autobody shop, that has the ability to weld plastic. See if they might be able to weld it? Depends on plastic and their willingness to do it though... |

I just fixed mine for the second time. Part is around $70 and easy to replace. It is riveted in place in 3 spots. This time I beefed up the attachment holes with HYSOL, especially on the front one. I think it is because the seat cushion failed, but dealer claims “external influence”.

Broken Drivers Seat
My Butt broke off the control panel. 2017 X5, under warrantee. Dealer says it's due to abuse. Isn't a seat made for a butt? I weigh 200 pounds. Ho can I dispute this denial, is there any hope someone would listen. BMW wants $350 to repair. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for this. Pregnant wife just broke this in her X5 and she felt so bad as you can imagine so great to see it’s happening to multiples. First time in 85k miles.

Mine first broke at 36,000 miles. It has been fixed 3 times by the dealer, each repair lasting only a few days. Very frustrating! I think the rivets are too weak now that the seat is worn. You would think BMW with the quality vehicle would come up with a much better and stronger solution. I wonder if could add an L-bracket and bolt it on?
