Black 35d with black 491
I'm going to pick up my car on Saturday with winter tires on, so I went early to check out the car with the black 491 rims.
Just wanted to share with you guys how it looks. |

Black with subtle satin highlights all the way around is elegant ( i.e satin/aluminium contrast all the way around from front/top/side/back). Black wheels are sharp looking and will hide brake dust. The running boards, excellent choice for X5 with satin contrast. Congrats and enjoy!

I wasn't sure it would turn out when I ordered this, and I didn't want it to look too "drug dealer" like, since it is my wife's car taking the baby around. Haha.
The x line made it look a bit more elegant, at the same time a bit more aggressive than the silver rims. I'm happy I missed my opportunity to upgrade to Msport. |

did you get the OEM winter wheel package? I am taking delivery of my X5d with M sport in 2 weeks and am contemplating if I should get the OEM ones for 4100 + tax. I don't like the selection that Tire Rack has to offer.

i have not seen those wheels in person -- can I ask please, what's your take on how they will wear over time? When they get scratched or dinged, will they stay black, or will the marks reveal alloy underneath? Thanks for any insight you have to offer on this. |

I have my winter sets on right now, so I have no idea how the black rims wear over time. I'm sure they'll do fine.
I picked up my car yesterday, and overall things are good. The diesel is way more quiet than I thought it would be, and the overall driving experience is good. Compared to my E92 M3, the build quality is a few levels lower. I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the interior. Could this be the difference between a Germany built car VS a US built car? Or could it just be the difference between a normal BMW vs an M car? Maybe I'm being picky, but I'll post a more thorough review in a few days. |
