55,000 miles

Approaching the 55k mark and I'm just wondering what I should be doing maintainence wise. Already did brake fluid and changed spark plugs. Oil changes every 5-6k Miles since I got the truck with 36k on it. Anything I should be looking to do? Tranny?

Similar situation and changed both differential fluid (OE Brand), transmission fluid (ZF Filter and Fluid Kit), all air/engine filters, and spark plugs. All purchased through FCP Euro. Good preventative maintenance for those of us who plan on owning long term.

Would definitely add changing transfer case fluid onto that list. Had my TC fluid changed at 50k and the oil was dark blackish brown looked pretty bad don't forget to have them recalibrate through ISTA after TC fluid change as the clutch packs need to readjust there have been some who skipped recalibrating which led to some jerkiness.

Good call out 201. Did that too but forgot to mention it. Transfer case fluid definitely seemed like the priority after looking at its darkish color compared to trans and diff.

Seems like your in Jersey if that's the case you can hit up Dave at apexautocare in Ridgefield lots of members here including myself had fluids done there at a very reasonable price and there service was great. If I can remember correctly for both diffs, transfer case with ista reset, brake flush and drain fill/plugs all in all was about 490$ and thats with all genuine bmw fluids this was for a 35i. Not sure where they sourced there parts but it was just as cheap as getbmwparts so you wouldn't have to bring your own fluids.

Was just going to ask for a shop as well. Thanks for the tip. $490 doesn’t sound bad at all. Can’t even imagine what that same service at the dealer would be.
I’m at 43k and will definitely hit up apex auto for my service.

Well I know for sure the front diff and transfer case use the same oil type and fill amount as the 35i not so sure for the rear diff. If you search you'd probably get more accurate information

My 50i with DHP required two different type of fluids for the rear diff and just one particular fluid for the front diff so I do think it depends on what suspension you are running on.

Good info. Anyone have more info on reprogramming needed after TC change? Hadn't heard anything about that before.

Personally, depending on what year you have.... I would absolutely replace the Battery or Batteries (if you have two).. Especialy if your at the 5 year mark.
