Would you change your F85 for an F95?
I've been watching the video reviews on the F95 now that the motoring journalists finally have been allowed to use the cars. Being a 2018 F85 owner, I would be interested to know how many of you would either:
1. Consider swapping for an F95? 2. Consider swapping for a G05 M50i? 3. Keeping your F85 long term? |

Don't know why would you even consider going to G05 M50 :
Either keep it or move to the newest and greatest. I personally always move to new one just because it's generally better in any category. It's not that hard: if you can afford it just jump to the new one.

I'm getting rid of my F85 and buying a F95, as soon as my dealer gets an allocation.
I love my F85, it's probably the best BMW I've owned, and the most fun! I can't wait to drive the F95. The interior and technology seems much nicer than my F85.

Will wait a few years minimum.
Love this third gen though. Haven't seen in person. Not sure about all digital dash. I like my analog speedo and tach. I have Dinan stage 1 so can't imaging anything much faster truth be told.... F86 rear tires are 325s, which I love the steamroller character it delivers. |

Keeping F85

F85 still turns heads - doesn't hurt having a Dinan Stage 2 tune on it!!!!! Recently Extended warranty for 3yrs.

Some BMW designs look great. Some do not. The F85 looks great. The F95 does not.

I have been struggling with this question for the last couple of months. The F85 is a fantastic vehicle. Every Sunday morning I'm up at sunrise hitting the highways and parkways. It is truly an effortless vehicle. You do not have to be Carroll Shelby to drive this machine fast. It is in fact a little too effortless. I love the way it drives, HUD, seats M1 and M2 buttons. 0-60 in 3.8 for such a heavy vehicle.
Now I read the car and driver review of the new X5MC. Is it really worth it to purchase the latest and greatest when the numbers from the new vehicle are not that far from the F85. 0-60 in 3.6-3.7, C&D skidpad numbers for F85 was .98g's new vehicle 1g. Seats in the F85 are definetly better. The exhaust will no doubt be better and throatier in the X5MC especially since I got rid of the fuse for active sound in the F85. I think I read somewhere now you can hit a button and it will be deactivated. F85 is paid off and now has 35k miles on it. First world decisions I guess? I will have to get some serious incentives to jump ship to new X5MC. |

All true. It’s probably silly but the clincher for me was that digital dashboard and clutter of buttons. Oh and the new bolt pattern meaning I would need another winter setup. And the eyesore grille. And rear. And...

I feel the same about the design features you mention. I don't like the idea of having to drill through layer after layer of touch screen menus to do something simple that I could do in my F15 with a quick turn of a knob. The G05/F95 look way too much like a Q7 for my tastes. If I'd wanted a Q7, I would have bought a Q7. I'd feel the same way if I had an F85, for sure.

OP, it's been since Nov since I sold my wife's 2018 X5M for a 2020 X5 M50i w/DHP, and she is very pleased. Go test drive one with DHP and it will surprise you.

Not a fan of the new interior and exterior so personally no. And with a bunch performance mods pushing my F86 to just about 700hp the increase in stock power isn't a swing point either.

Late to this thread, but here goes...
Definitely considering the new model when my lease is up. However, there are a couple of other strong contenders for my attention: RS6 - love the styling. Emotional connection as I had the last model available in North America (in 2004). Will deliver the goods on quality, power/torque, useability/practicality and grip. Issue = ground clearance. F Pace SVR - not really in the same performance league, but I am a Jag fan and although it is down on power compared to the X5M I prefer the engine, both from a sound and power/torque delivery point of view. In the end more than fast enough for a daily driver. Materials quality not as good as the X5M but decent, and priced far cheaper! |

Yup, seen that one and a bunch of other ones. They all seem to be quite favourable. What really caught my attention, though was Evo's magazine review. I've bought Evo since they started out in the late 90's and have generally found their opinions very trustworthy. Evo has been lukewarm on most RS models in the past, particularly the RS6's from a handling point of view, but they really seemed to like this one!

Be careful with the Jag. Pretty and sounds awesome, but my loaner Jag has all kinds of issues at 7K miles, and the wife's Velar has been problematic (thus the long term loaner) ...
As a new owner of a 2018 f85, I am not a fan of the exterior styling, nor the size increase on the F95. Last thing the SUV needs is wider and longer. I also think it looks to much like older Mercedes SUVs... New tech would be nice, esp active cruise. Is the steering feel improved? |

I ran an XFR and an XFR-S as daily drivers from 2009 to 2017 and the cars were almost flawlessly reliable (XFR had a control module replaced, otherwise both had zero issues). I'm also now running an F Type SVR as a fun car and it has to date been 100% reliable. As a comparison: My current '18 X5M has had zero issues. My wife's previous '16 m240xi had to have the strut bearings and spring mounts replaced, the car rode like it was suspended on rocks, and the OEM wheels bent like butter. My previous '12 X5 4.4L had to have the instrument cluster replaced. Wife's '13 X1 had ongoing, unresolved rough idle and fan noise issues. My '08 X5 4.8L had to have the Nav/DVD unit replaced. Hardly fatal flaws, any of the above, and anecdotal evidence of nothing, just like your examples. But from my perspective, I have no beef with Jag in the reliability department! |

Velar was all-new for 2018 and thus the first to get the new all electronic control panel setup. Loaner is a 2019 XF HSE Shooting Brake Wagon, and the warning lights for skid control etc are on intermittently at 9K miles. As always, YMMV but we're moving away from JLR vehicles after the lease ends. I've owned more than 10 BMWs with next to no issues especially late model ones within warranty. |

OP. Not worth it in my opinion. You don't get THAT much more performance in stock variants.
If I were to go with a combustion engine, RS6 would be the way to go. However, I have a pre-order in on a tri-motor Cybertruck that will replace my F85 eventually. Just as fast and I can haul stuff from the lumber yard. Oh, and better range! 😂

Anyone seen any test comparisons between F85 and F95?
