Oil service indicator reset log in ISTA
Is there a way to check when then oil service indicator was reset the last time? When I diy'd during the last change I only wrote down the mileage but forgot to note the date and time.
I'm sure these things are logged somewhere with so many ECUs, is there anything in ista that can retrieve this information? |

Isn’t this in iDrive? It may not give the date (which may be what you’re after)...but it should give the month and year. If you go into VEHICLE INFO and work your way to VEHICLE STATUS and then select on the service (ie OIL SERVICE in this case)...it should give the next month/year for the change. (See 1st pic below)
This info also depends on which service interval is coded into your Bimmer. Some BMWs were programmed with a 24000 Km/24 month interval...then BMW shortened it to a 15000Km/12 month interval (you can see what your BMW was initially coded with when you decode your VIN). My f06 was initially coded with the longer 24 month oil change interval...but when I got my PPI done...the dealership asked if I wanted to change it to the shorter interval (at BMW NA’s expense). You can see the longer interval listed on my VIN decode (D098676) in the 2nd pic below vs the shorter interval for a 2016 X5 (0C03035) below:

No he is looking for the oil change history and I know that you can change the oil service history via ISTA but i do not know if there is a datetime stamp ( I will check for you). There is something like this for battery registration where it saves the date of the last battery registration.

You will see the date that you last performed the reset when you first enter the procedure. It is really very simplistic. You are just resetting a counter. Here is the exact procedure: |

Thank you for the follow up, saved me a trip to the garage! I suppose I'll have to live with the date set in the idrive, hope it's based on the last reset date + 12 months and not something else.

I've done the same thing, I had to backtrack my mileage using google maps.
great way to keep track is send yourself an email with the service and mileage right before or after the service. |
