They're studded from the factory. Thus the designation "studded" and not "studdable."

Although never owned them myself, I hear they're very good. Top of the line good.

Oops, not good.
I may have to switch to Pirelli Scorpion, if they don't have Hakka R3 in stock.

Thanks.

20” Winter setup installed today. Went with Nitto tires and instead of re and re rubber I got a set of replica wheels. Staggered setup
Initial drive I can tell the run flats are off. The tires are a lot more squishy feeling but not loud at all. There is a bit more sway but that is to be expected

The hope is in the summer I will get a set of 469 20” with summer tires. I have a rare spare tire kit in the back so I don’t necessarily need run flats in the winter. Any advice is appreciated.
This info might be a little late if you've already made your winter tire purchase, but I had the Goodyear Ultra Grip SUV ROF run-flat tires mounted about a month ago on my 19" 449-style rims (which are now my dedicated winter set-up -- new 20" wheels go on in the spring ). The original Michelin Latitude all-seasons with 30k miles were dismal in the snow last year. BMW featured the Goodyear tires in an ad, so right or wrong, I bought them at the dealer, and these have a tread design that seems to be sold only by BMW and is slightly different from the Ultra Grip design available everywhere else, like Tire Rack. I suspect BMW aimed for a quieter ride, but that's just a guess, and I would think tires with the standard tread pattern would perform similarly, based on the few reviews I found. In a recent 3" snowfall, there was no drama and only rare traction-control engagement in a spirited drive on unplowed roads and crunchy plowed roads, which was amazing but which I also would expect from any quality dedicated winter tire. I haven't driven with these tires in deep snow yet. On dry and wet roads, these tires are not much different in noise or ride quality than the old Michelin all-seasons, which I actually thought were pretty quiet and rode well. "Ultra Grip" isn't nearly as fun to say as "Hakkapelitta" but they seem to do the job.
