August 2016 onwards have iDrive 5 & 2018 models ID6 Comboxes also changed to support 4G? around that time as well

I’d go to the website the screen tells you to and plug in your VIN. It will tell you if there’s an update available.

Why are you asking? Maybe you’d get a better response if it was clear as to what you’re really searching for. BMW is not like Windows, Apple, or Tesla where they keep updating the software just because. If there is/was an update…it was to address some issue.

Also….as mentioned…iDrive really get’s “updated” by progressing iterations or evolutions…ie ID4/ID5/ID6, and now ID7.

If you need updated nav maps…that is something doable but is not an iDrive update…that would be a nav map update.

The reason I’m asking is because i want to know if anyone has a higher version than the one that I have. I don’t know how to be any more clear on the question. I know BMW is not like Windows or Apple.

The reason I was asking, is that in my X3, there was an update, one that is not listed on the BMW site for my VIN. When someone posted on the X3 forum with the updated binary file, I installed it and it cleared up a bit of Bluetooth mess that i was having.

So, to be clear, the BMW update site says my VIN is up to date….the same site said my X3 was also up to date (which it wasn’t)….so I want to see if anyone has a higher version number than what I have.

The site says my VIN is up to date, but I know from experience (as well as from others here in this forum), that this website doesn’t always have accurate information.

Thanks for the clarification...mentioning that the Bluetooth issues and update from the X3 forum points your post in a more specific direction of what you were seeking.

I only asked because I couldn't tell if you were having an issue, or just wanted new maps, or thought you may be missing something if your software was older.
