New battery, now EGS fault
My batteries were going on 5 years (Early 2017) and starting the X5 35d was becoming questionable. So today I changed the primary and auxiliary and immediately registered them both using Foxwell NT530.
While the scanner was hooked up, I opted to run a code check. There were a handful of faults, so I cleared them and ran the scan again. One fault code was persistent in the Electronic transmission control EGS. CF19C1: Message (effect while driving none) missing, EGS receiver, instrument cluster transmitter I took the X5 for a drive, and everything seemed normal including sport/manual modes with paddles. Scanned again and the fault is still there. I've checked https://bmwfault.codes/ and the code was found, but it's not clear on what to do next. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? |

Myself, I would slide under the car and push the transmission's mechatronic connector in. I think you have to drop the pan and release a clip to pull the plug and re-seat it. Look for any wiring damage on that harness.
Did you do a tranny fluid service on your X? |

No tranny service (34k miles), just batteries. Handful of random low voltage codes and odd behavior in the last month.
Cleared all codes about 2 weeks ago and none came back. Since then there were several slow starts and a fail start today. New batteries went in today, so it’s possible the code was there before or after the swap. |

Just curious…when you entered the fault code on the fault code site…did you click on the links in the fault info column (the links circled in red in pic below)? Only asking because there is a section under “service plan” that offers a bit more instructions.

Thx QS7, I did view each of the links and service plan, but it didn’t make much sense to me. I’m also using Foxwell scanner and not ISTA so that could be part of the issue.
I drove the car today for two 30 min trips and two 10 min trips. Ran great with no odd behavior. Guess I’ll have to wait this one out. |

I went out to get my 35d off the street a few minutes ago and lo and behold - dead battery. I just had the oil changed yesterday at the dealer. It was 11 degrees yesterday morning and 5 degrees this morning. It cranked slowly yesterday, so its my own fault. I should have mentioned it. Now I can make my second visit in 3 days - if they'll take me! Now I understand why they replace batteries every two years on these. Good luck chasing your gremlin!
