New (to me) 35i Introduction + Quicks/Questions

Hi Everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. Been an Audi head for the longest time, but finally jumping ship from a Q5.

Just picked up a 2014 xDrive 35i M Sport w/ 125k on the clock. I must say the F series platform is nicer than the B8 platform. Had the squealing PCV valve cover issue, but decided to just get the entire valve cover replaced because the gasket was failing and starting to get some oil burn and leaks. So everything seems to be running fine (knock on wood).

Just had a few questions about some "quirks" I've noticed.

1) Love the look of the blacked out window trim/rails from the M Sport Package. However, on close inspection, the rear trim on the driver side (in front of the C Pillar) looks to be more like a faded bronze metallic now. I actually like the color, but doesn't match the rest of the trim. Just wondering if this is a common issue and if there's a fix other than re-spray/vinyl wrap.

2) Power folding mirrors don't work when locked with comfort access. Set this up through Bimmer Code and folding/unfolding works with the fob. However, when using comfort access it only unfolds on unlock. Can't seem to get them to fold on lock.

3) Wondering if anyone has found a fix for the entertainment info not updating in the HUD when playing through spotify (read a couple of the threads on it).

In any case, looking forward to the ride and to being a part of the community! Will also post some pics once I get her cleaned up.

Thanks!

For #2, hold down comfort access for 2-3 seconds, this mirrors will fold.
Its not auto close. Much like holding lock on the fob or lock on comfort access will close all open windows / sun roof, you have to hold it for safety.

I've experienced #3 on my 2015, but after resorting the vehicle and a good connection and a reboot of Spotify on my phone, it sorts it self out. If I do some strange connection routine, I can lock it up and keep it frozen displaying the same song.

Welcome!

Welcome, make sure that the mirror adjuster selection toggle is on the driver side. Otherwise they wont close. Plus in my case I found that I have to hold the close button (on door) for about 1sec otherwise they don't close. If I just do a quick glancing swipe, the car will lock but the mirrors will stay open.

Congrats and welcome!

At 125K, OEM N55 charge pipe ought to be replaced with an aftermarket metal one. Do you know if the charge has been replaced?

If not - suggest to explore Evolution Racewerks charge pipe.

#1 - I think that mines having the same issue as you, typically a good polish brings everything back to the same black. Microfiber towel should do the trick

Thanks for the heads up. Not sure if it's been replaced yet. But was thinking about getting either BM3 or RC and after reading up on it looks like I should also do the charge pipe too. Seems like Ben with RG Sport is the one I should be hitting up?

Not intending this to be a commercial endorsement: RG Sport is one of the more experienced shops.

I suggest to install the charge pipe first and drive for 2-3 weeks and ensure that all sensors work as expected and there are no boost leaks.

Then install a tune.

why Evolution Racewerks? they seem to have the most expensive charge pipe you can get.

Sadly every other one has figment issues.

Or just go OEM and expect another 100k out of it, unless you get a tune.
