Lock the car with running engine

Is it normal for our cars to have this option? I can close the car with remote when the engine is ON. Not sure if I activated this with Carly but I dont think so.
The only negative is that the cars horn will sound twice when you close the doors and its loud

Close the car? Or lock it? Obviously you can close the door, but I don't think you can lock it.

Well, now you've got me curious. I'll have to try it out later. I'd like to be able to do that, if I want the car to warm up for a bit but I'd rather not sit in it or have to guard it.

I've had it running and taken it to the car wash in my building to rinse some slush and snow of it, with the key in my pocket, and hit the exterior lock button with the stream of water and had the horn go off. Scared the pee out of me. But I don't know if it actually locked or not.

Yes, I've done it many times.

I do it all the time when I run in somewhere and want to keep my car running. I have comfort access and I just use the handle button to lock it, but the horn does not sound - I just have to watch the lock go down and I also here from inside the little tone that says your keys are not in the car, etc.

I use it almost daily.

2+ years and this car still surprises me Now just need to figure out how to disable the horn noise when locking.

Use the Bimmercode app to disable it. It worked for my F31 and F15.

You can definitely lock the doors from the remote or handle while the car is running and in park. However if you have people in the car and you lock it... The car will flash its emergency lights and make noise very often to let you know people are in there

yep, do it plenty of times either from the comfort access door handle or the remote. Can't remember if mine sounds the horn. Would imagine you could change that in the profile without need for code, because you have the option to sound horn or flash lights when car is locked/unlocked. Will have to double check what mine does.

LOL i did this on my E70.... locked the keys in the car too, with the engine running. So i had a catless X5M with an exhaust rumbling for an hour until the locksmith came and popped it open. I immediately found the spare set in my workout room on the bench after he left. This "feature" was an option i enabled via coding... Something like; lock doors after a certain time time passes with the car started.
