I'll have to ask my buddy who installed them. I honestly can't remember which width I got.

From what I understand, I believe narrower is better for cutting through snow. You can get a 275/285 on a 9.5" wheel but that seems too wide for snow imo.

Haven't posted my own car in a while. I haven't been on any road trips recently either

Decided to give the ol' battery a top up... I do this about once every two weeks give or take when the weather is good if I haven't done any long distance driving. It does charge in the rain, but I don't want to break the charger...

There was an article I just read within the last two weeks, that tested three widths of the same tire, apparently narrower isn't better or worse. In fact there was barely any difference. If anything wider meant more traction for braking.

The old "narrow tire is better" is based on people not having dedicated snow/winter tires.

For a non snow tire, narrower is definitely better in snow from my experience. Dedicated summer tires, gets stiff when cold, and will have really crappy grip, regardless of width. All-round tires will be better, but should still not be wide for winter use.

However, with a snow tire that stays softer and grippier in colder temps, wider can actually help with the grip as alphaod mentioned.

New to us 2016 with 3600 miles on it. Feels good to be back. We took a hiatus after our 12 x5d was totaled. Since we live in AK, I opted to go a square setup for the winter. The narrower tire cuts through the snow a bit better, and these tires will probably be on about 6 months at a time.

Out with the summer 469 20's and put on some 19x9" Rial x10x from TireRack.

I need a spacer to fill the rear a bit, but I'm not too worried about it.

Noobie question...Is the x5 good in the snow with its stock tire setup? I see a lot of winter sets for sale in the classified, so it's making me worried.

Thanks bro! I do but haven't uploaded to YouTube or a platform that would allow me to share on here. I will try to get one uploaded tonight. It's comparable to the MPE.
