Dealer incompetence

Found out today at my first service interval that I have been driving my X5 for almost a year in pre delivery transportation mode. Never coded at the dealer upon delivery. SMH. what's disconcerning is the selling dealer as well as another dealer I had install MPPK totally disregarded this.
Service manager of a dealership by my house (not the first two) said car should feel different in a good way.
Well I did notice transmission shifts felt faster and crisper and the IDrive and Nav screen felt a lot quicker.

Wow, that's is crazy! I wonder how they would have missed that? Did you pre-order your vehicle or was it stock inventory?

It was in vehicle status and he showed me where it was highlighted with a red yield sign.
Seller was Freeport, MPPK was Smithtown and Service was done at Rallye who made me aware of it. He noticed it when key fob did not allow any sort of data share with the BMW computer systems.

What is the difference between that and what it should be?

So it appears Competition dropped the ball here but Freeport is awful to begin with. I know there was a regime change in the past year but it has not helped. I do not use Rallye for service but Gianni knows his stuff and is a "car guy" through and through... if he is or was your SA you're in good hands.

i recently bought my x4 from freeport, they have changed a lot of things. Im surprised Rallye took your car in for service as they do not service cars unless you buy from them.

Now im curious to find out how do we figure out if the car is in pre delivery mode?

Not sure when was the last time you went to Rallye, but I've never bought a vehicle from them, but they did service on both a E53 and E70 from BMW of Bayside eons ago, and recently I moved from CA (from BMW of Mountain View), they did 20k service on my F15, gave me a loaner and everything. I'm suppose to go back next week for some DME update.

not too long ago last year I was deny service due extreme volume of cars in for service. I was in their system for previous cars they have serviced.

Interesting, they didn't offer to schedule you for a later time for anything? I'm just wondering since I literally called in the morning for both appointments and asked if I could come in and they were able to fit me for a loaner both times.

i was surprised myself when they deny me for service but freeport isnt so bad. i had a recall on my x4 ISOFIX, child restraint brackets were welded for reinforcement. The car was return in 2 days with oil service and recall repair done.

I see. The only dealer I've had problems with was Bayside. They wouldn't give me a loaner when I was under 25 at the time; they said they could set me up with a rental though...

I've never gone back.

I've been refused a loaner for not purchasing a BMW from a dealer before... This was back in 2007.. maybe the rules have changed since then..

Based on my limited knowledge on dealers on this forum and from the other forum, I learned to stay away from the following dealers in the NYC area.

BMW of Manhattan
BMW of Freeport
BMW of Bayside

agree on all above. worst bmw dealerships in the area. when freeport was "hassel" i took my m5 in for service (it was the only dinan dealer in the area) and i needed dinan parts and an m-audio subwoofer swapped. they kept my car for two weeks and when i got it back it had 230 miles on it along with two door dings and a thrashed roof. after fighting with management about the issue and working with bmwna to resolve it i was given some gift cards and a detail to remove the scratches and free pdr but i was furious that they would do this to begin with. that is the last time i ever used that dealership. fast forward to when they became freeport... i purchased an f31 through them and came in for first service. it was horrific. worse than when it was hassel. never again. the funny thing is i don't live anywhere near them i just thought i'd give them a shot since they were new and probably had the best facility around and a new staff that cared... WRONG!
