Whine from air vents

Do you guys have constant whine from the vents at Auto AC with lowest speed fan? This changes, whine pitch when I slightly press accelerator. It can only be heard at lowest fan speed.

I had this on my 2016 f85. Had the blower replaced under warranty.

Agree. Hvac blower is failing. Very common for some reason. Super annoying.

Does it sound like someone blowing through a straw? That's what mine sounded like just prior to the AC going our this summer. Had to replace the blower and condenser/heating unit under warranty.

Holy crap. Thank you for this thread. I was driving from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando this past weekend with my kids and the noise was so aggravating. Much appreciated!

Also reviving an old post. Did anyone have luck fixing this with the blower motor replacement? There's another thread where people have said it doesn't fix it and is a design flaw?

Had mine replaced and it still whines, only at a lower decibel so it's less annoying because I only catch it every now and then. It's heating season, so I'm hoping that it doesn't become more pronounced again in AC season.

Well, at least it's a lower decibel for you.

I'm new to the X5M and am finding the whine/grumble insanely loud on low settings and low rpm - so was debating about replacing blower motor.

We just purchased a 2018 X5 M that has a CPO warranty. The noise is terrible just as you state, low setting and low RPM. It's my wife's SUV and she is going to take it in for service in a couple of weeks (rear passenger door doesn't always unlock, the fan noise, and part of the lower tailgate has broken springs.

Same problem, the dealer have replaced

The blower
AC compressor
The freon/refrigerant
Serpentine Belt Tensioner

the noise still persistent.... it happens only when the AC is on, the noise goes away after 1-2 minutes when AC is off

The noise was there when we purchased the vehicle, so I assume that filter was OEM. Since purchase, I have replaced it with non-OEM.

Noise is still there at the lowest fan speed but only when the vehicle has been running for quite some time.

My dealer has also replaced a couple of those items and the noise persists.

Because I've been persistent as hell, my tech ordered a replacement Power Steering/Dynamic Drive pump because he thought the noise was coming from that area after using ChassisEar to listen for any noises from the drivetrain (I was concerned about the TC or a diff or driveshaft or something...) of which he found nothing.

The part is of course back-ordered and I just followed up with my SA to see if we can get this replacement going. Will let you guys know if anything improves upon replacement of this part when it ever happens...

Same sound. Have had it all along. It's actually a little cooler here today so I turned the AC off. Amazing what a difference it makes. Very pleasant in the cabin.

I totally agree! Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, the noise is a lot more noticeable since the fan speed isn't at MAX. I'm sure we will bring it in again for the noise, as last time they couldn't duplicate it.

Is there a TSB on this issue? I have searched and searched and cannot find anything. I am just preparing for our trip to the Dealership in January, as I'm sure they will know nothing about it, lol.

We had the HVAC blower motor replaced a few weeks ago. Initially it seemed to make a difference, but nope the noise still persists. Not sure what to do at this point.
