Audio systems

Has anyone done some audio system
Beyond the replacing stock location speakers? Subs in back? Box, false floor or anything else like that? I mean, is there seriously no bass heads in here?

I'm working on it. I have HK and replacing all speakers with Bavsound stage1 ones.
Next is adding a sub in trunk. These is what I add:

ZUKI 1x2500
Audible Physics RG50 tweeters

I have all new wire running to the front stage.

With the hurricane I haven't had a chance to finish my sub box in the driver's cubby. So it's just in a sealed box for now. Also the amp are temps until my Boland Amps come in.

It looks great. Mine will be much simpler, using that space for the sub and mounting the amp next to the factory one.

Are you just adding a sub? Or you trying to upgrade everything?

If you want to keep it simple and build off the HK system, add a mono sub amp in the rear storage cavity near the factory amp, an Audio Control LC2i controller and a remote bass control knob in the blank panel near the fog light button with a 10" sub in the floor hidden underneath the back storage space. You can do all of this or have it done for decent price depending on the components you choose.

I have the third row option and space is limited but after you take out all of the plastic around the rear battery compartment, there is more than enough room.

Personally I am using a JL audio 500 watt mono amp and Focal 10" sub in a sealed box. Once install is complete next week, I can load up the pics.

The HK system is a little hard the tap into. I don't think there is a plug and play harness. You will need what he said. If you don't have third row or spare tire to worry about. There is about 9" of depth to use for a sub under the floor. I would say get a 12" sub to give you a little bit more of the low end.

I actually ordered the $50 one; that's only the harness without LOC; you need LOC too but this one is better:

I am currently adding 2 12" JL Audio subs in a ported enclosure, custom built box in the rear floor. Adding a JL audio mono sub amp where the factory amp is as well as a Audio Control LCQ-1 LOC with EQ. Replacing stock front speakers with all Focal speakers on the stock amp for now. For now the EQ can only be used on the bass to smooth it up a bit.
I looked into installing the bass knob in the spot where the blank is by lights switch but it physical will not fit there. Its a full electronic switch housing and even when I took it apart it wont fit there. So I am installing the base knob inside the storage door below the light switch.

Hopefully I will have it mostly done this weekend and will post pics.

Only thing is the front speaker will sound almost the same. The oem amp is the weak point.

Hey, thanks for the link. However it says in the description that it accepts 400W/channel only. I am doing 2 JL subs 10w3 powered by alpine 1100W amp. That means I cant use this LOC?

It says "Two channels of Active speaker level inputs – Accept 400 watt signals per channel"

This means from "factory amp" the signal can come up to 400 watt per channel.
Then from LOC it goes to your Alpine amp that will power your sub to whatever it can.

The reason you need that LOC is because the signal you get from the car sound system is already amplified and your Alpine would not accept 400 watt input signal (most amps will not, they would get damaged)

so it's music source/headunit > "factory amp" > harness > LOC > Alpine amp > subwoofer

makes sense? if not check this

My weekend project.. I installed 2 JL Audio 12w1v3 subs in a sealed enclosure
(did not have air space for ported) in the trunk area in storage area. I still need to do my grill with perforated metal flush with the floor to cover the subs to keep them safe.

I also installed a JL 600/1 sub amp and a LOC/EQ. I had this left over from previous car. I may add amps in the future for the mids and highs. I installed the remote sub level control in the panel under the CD player.

Just curious if anyone has ran a separate amp to the front underseat woofers? I was thinking of doing the BavSound underseat replacements with an additional amp powering those. I have the spare tire option so very limited room in the trunk underhatch.

I see there is a Stealth Box for the E70, but not sure it would fit the F15.
