Fullscreen CarPlay is here!

Came across a thread in the G30 forum about native support for fullscreen CarPlay. Did some more research and found someone who activated it for me.

So much better than before when CarPlay was only using 2/3 of the screen!

If anybody is interested in getting this activated, send me a PM and I will connect you with the person who did it for me. The process was very easy and straightforward and cost me around $100.

Edit: Unfortunately, the guy I used for this mod is no longer around. But doing some Google research it appears there are various vendors now offering this mod.

just to be clear, full screen carplay is only possible for 2018 f15/f85 and G05?

No, I have a 2017 and it was possible. There are some restrictions on newer versions that have been dealer patched after November 2018.

you could probably buy an obd adapter and code it yourself for less than $100?

BimmerCode is a decent mobile app for it.

Or you can download some software to a laptop and code it that way.

Oh hell yes, finally my $115k SUV will have the same capability as my wife's $45k minivan!!!

Gonna setup a service call as I'm already having annoying Bluetooth issues!

BimmerCode is a decent mobile app for it.

I've used bimmer code to code simple things. But it does not have the capability to update idrive software to support widescreen CarPlay.

I wouldn't go updating idrive firmware just yet. I've been told that this widescreen hack only supports certain idrive versions.

I brought my 2017 in to the dealer for the firmware update, then I'll apply the CarPlay widescreen patch 😇
