X5m potential purchase advice
Hi all...I haven't been active here for some time (been on the p car dark side) but potentially coming back in an x5m. I've read all the posts here on similar threads but I got a chance to drive an x5m yesterday and as I was impressed with the handling I was slightly disappointed in the acceleration. I have had heavily modded e90 m3 and a 700 whp f10 m5. The m5 had amazing power but never could put it down so the hope was x5m would be a better balance. For those who have possibly had an f10 or tuned their x5m is the stage 1 power a considerable jump in the butt dyno department? I also drove an rs7 and while the power is flat out amazing the handling was a little lacking...did make me think about it as an option. Hoping maybe with a tune or other subtle mods the x5m would feel faster to me. Happy to be posting here again and thanks all for the feedback/advice.

Did you use the M1 or M2 buttons? Bootmod3, Dinan, Velos, BMS, VF Engineering, RaceChip GTS Black etc. all have tunes that make a huge difference 'in the butt dyno department'. Too bad I'm on the left coast, otherwise you could test drive mine with the Dinan tune and feel the difference.

Thanks DeeO! Yes my f10 m5 got plenty of m button use and it was bench flashed by turner Motorsport and put 710whp down (well down to the spinning tires that is). I was just not overly impressed with the pickup of the X5m I test drove and was wondering at its size if a tune would make appreciate it more.

NP, did you get a chance to try launch control? Or have you read this thread?

Yes fortunately for me the sales manager is a friend so I got an unescorted test drive and did one full launch. Pulled hard maybe it was just because I drove an rs7 the day before that it didn't feel that fast. May need to go back for another drive!

I think you may be better suited for the 18 M5. I also had modified M cars. My last one was a pure turbo M6GC.
Now I have a 18 M5 and it's freaking amazing, more nimble than the F10 and can put the power down. |

I have a tuned X5M that I'm now turning back in due to recently purchasing a new M5. My tuned X5M was very quick and I was not disappointed at all. I could tell a big difference between the stock vehicle when I bought it and when I had the Dinan S1 installed.

I found that the X5M was faster than my F10 M5 because it could put down the power (both OEM). I suspect if you tune the X5M you will find the same.
Maybe you are looking at my X5M that just came off lease??? |

Dinan, race chip etc are basic piggy backs. I ran a race chip before a bm3 full tune. Night and day difference. The truck is very fast and would say faster than my fully tuned m4
What I love about the x5m is the usability of a suv, great handling with kw coils and awesome power. One of the most versatile cars I have ever owned and excited to see what the f95 chassis brings |
