That is literally the first thing I thought of too.

I think it will and over time just create more opportunities for rust to start forming, especially since salty winter elements will undoubtedly find their way under it.

My x5 is ceramic coated, and I left a few small slots top and bottom to let water drain 👍🏻
I use my head occasionally

The top of the bumper is the first part that gets dirty on my cars and it drives me crazy. This mod makes it two parts that you can't keep clean. You, sir, are a masochist.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I know this isnt a mod that everyone will like.
Personally, as of right now I like it. Changes the look from any other X5 in my area.

Looks good, but I see what you mean with the sides being high.

I found a company on Ebay that sells a urethane version, unpainted, but white in pictures.
EDIT: got the one from Ebay. Heavy and not as pictured. Might send it back. Has the high sides. I removed the link.. Not happy!

I'm going to try the above version..

For anyone who has not used it, it is extremely strong. I could literally rock my X5 without ANY movement to the spoiler.
From the back it is pretty subtle. Also, fitment could have been a bit better, but all and all I'm satisfied for now.
Also my next project will be applying CarPro Fly by Forte to my windows. Have to polish the glass first.
The way these curl up on the window and don't align with other body parts kinda ruins it for me, sorry.

Nice ride overall!

Totally understand what you are saying, I wish it followed the body line better as well. If there was a way to bend it down I would, but not really an option with CF I don't think.

Sides don't quite go as high, so it doesn't touch the rear glass.

I'm going to try the above version..
I like how sublte this one looks. Interested to see how it turns out

I removed the link, since some of the pictures are not accurate as to what they shipped to me. (What I received has the tall ends/sides)
I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. If they don't change the main picture, I will have to leave a bad review.

Nonetheless, I'm considering keeping it, and reshape it, then try to make my own out of fiberglass or carbon fiber. Got a buddy with experience in carbon fiber parts, could be a fun project.

More to follow, but really disappointed in the part I received.

Sorry to here that. Might turn out to be a unique and better looking option given the route you're heading.

Here it is.
Not a quality piece at all. Brand name AeroFunction or AF.
Covers about 1/2" of the bottom of the rear door glass. Sits level, so no need for drain (if you caulk against the glass, not happening)
Made to be glued on, no space for double adhesive tape, to cover edge of it.

I'm thinking with a few hrs of work, I should be able to improve on the design. Cut down the tall ends, make it slightly less deep for better fit without touching the glass etc. (or maybe it ends up in the scrap pile)
Will need "longboard" treatment, seeing the lines are not perfect straight.

Going to wait for warmer weather, and once I have it shaped the way I want it, I might try to make a CF copy.
Though that will depend on how frustrated I am with the project at that time.. haha

Actually looks quite similar to what I have, but mine is carbon.
The one you wanted was basically just a flat pierce that slightly curved upwards right?
Does it follow the body line of the trunk?

The upper edge all the way across follows the window curvature about half inch above where the glass starts, but has a small gap to the glass. Also, the ends curve up even higher.
The lower edge follows the body line/bend that is a few inches below the window glass.

So lower edge looks ok, but upper edge should not be against the glass, too high IMO. Also, correct, I wanted a flatter profile. The curved up sides looks like crap, IMO.

Thus my thinking of trying to reshape it, and remove 1/2" to 1" from both edges, make it smaller, so it mounts against metal/paint only.
Won't stick out as far, which is ok. But looks like it could be made to still follow the body lines, which is what I wanted.

Ahh ok.
Maybe if you are able to reshape it a bit it may make a good mold.
If mine followed the bottom body line, it would have fit perfectly.

I added mine about a year ago and love it... the fitment is not 100% more like 95% but I love it.
