Hopefully the new X6 will fill the gap between the current X5 and this wagon.

Not too excited about the rear, but the front looks more agressive.
If someone tells me that we can order M50D in the States I will go place an order right now.

lmaooo!! i thought i was the only one that thought that.
bmw to me, is just starting to annoy me with these predecessors.
I DESPISE that "z4" steering wheel theyre starting to put on all the bmws.
those fog lights look terrible on this x5.
and im not really digging the M sport kit. The current one looks so much better!

I always try to look at the half full of the glass...
With the recent evolution on SUV's from other automotive brands specially Mercedes, Audi and Infiniti, I was expecting a bigger entrance from "The Boss is Back"...
Now, I'm not questioning this new X5 by any means; but I have some concerns:
- The car does not bring any new excitment as to "wow, I've got to own this car" or "damn, this will be my next BMW!"...
- I think it will do better in capturing new marketshare than "trade in's" from current BMW owners... As the owner of the new X3 and new 3 series, it doesn't really give me enough incentive to trade any of my 2 BMWs (once their time're up of course) for this X5.
- the interior is a major improvement to the previous model, but still it is in the "Me-too" market.
overall, I'm sure it will be a great car...but no Wow factor!

The higher the fidelity of the feedback, the more precisely we can use it."

Except James May is not talking about Electric Steering Wheels vs Hydraulic Steering Wheels. He is talking about controlling a car with a video game controller vs a steering wheel in that case he does not talk about what version of steering wheels. His whole thesis is Steering wheel is more precise then video game controller because steering wheel is more precise and communicates more. Which a steering wheel does communicate more because turning a wheel just a certain amount of degrees and the car turning to that direction is instant feedback. you have no feed back with a controller because pressing and holding down left doesnt tell you exactly how long and where do you need to hold that action to go where you want to go.

the ultimate thumbs down for you is he thought the Audi RS4 had better handling then an AMG merc despite the merc had Hydraulic and the RS4 having the numbest steering wheel to date. So your post is either massively idiotic or disingenuous. To which that is a huge leap in change between turning a wheel and knowing how many rotations to move the wheels vs pressing left to go left until you go left.

Where did he prove me wrong? He is talking about video game controllers vs steering wheels. You are a dumbass.

I don’t like it. Back looks like X3 on steroids, and slanted front & lights remind me of 3 series.

The reason why the F15 doesn't look as sporty as the E70 in these photos is the due to the wheels/option differences. Once you see the F15 with the Msport 20"s and its a whole different ballgame. Even the current E70 looks hideous to me unless it has the 20" wheels and fender flares.

Edit - Optional 20"s with the Msport package with fender flares

The fob is cool. My e70 fob next to my F30s fob looks so cheap. Looks like the hierarchy is being restored

Think you have to be blind to not notice that there is something seriously wrong with the angle of that back window. That x3 lights etc look would prob be ok but the upper line of the hoffmeister kink not matching the angle of the back window looks like really bad design to me. It really ruins the whole car which would otherwise work maybe. As mentioned on other posts - it also gives a hatchback feel when looking from the side. Sorry to be so negative - I'm warming to it - especially the m sport version - but that back view just reminds that there is something a bit off.
