Mobile service ending and how to replace built in SIM
3G mobile service in Australia is terminating in 2024, therefore, BMW may discontinue its services. Is there a way to replace the built-in SIM in the vehicle? My vehicle an F86 and 2017 compliant. I am unsure whether the vehicle SIM is 3G or 4G. Also anyway to check this too.

Here in North America, 2017 started the 4G/LTE compatible units. I'm guessing that wasn't a worldwide change?

For those of us that had 2G & 3G..when you went to the iDrive screen for BMW OnLine...the little icon in the upper left of the screen would either have a 2 or 3 which indicated the type of service.

Thank you. I will check. The engine is getting an overhaul after spun bearings. Hopefully, I will have the car in a month's time.
