Soft Close Door Repair How To

Has anyone had to replace the motor in the soft close door? Mine is no longer working on the drivers side door. I can hear it trying to close the door, but it's not engaging.

First I've ever heard of it not working. Are you still under warranty?

You can sometimes find them used on ebay for couple hundred. I wouldn't imagine it's too difficult to swap if you're mechanicaly inclined.
Does the door close all the way if you shut it normally?

No warranty and the door closes. They tend to go at 50-60k miles. Yes I'm mechanically inclined for example I just installed a Dinan tuner myself. Checking Ebay is a good idea thanks

Does anyone know if the part called the door actuator? And does the issue extend to the door handle itself?

sorry to hijack but i was wondering if taking out the motors would be okay? i've been looking for x5m's without the soft close door option and they all seem to have it. i'm not a big fan of the option

You can just slam the doors shut like normal and they don't activate.

not trying to hijack the thread either but I just bought a 17 F85 and the build sheet says I have the soft close doors but they definitely are not. Is there a way to turn them off or something?

I was actually sitting in my car with the driver's side door closed and I heard a bang coming from inside the door. Oh no what was that? Got out looked around closed the door like I usually do and it wasn't catching. Went right to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty, no problems since.

I paid $700 for parts and labor on the liftgate soft closing mechanism.
Should have done it on my own.

Kies Motorsports has a video on how to install it. It's on F30, but the concept is similar.

Just had this repair done on mine under warranty. The soft close could be heard trying to pull the door but failing so the motor was fine. Dealer replaced the cable and it's good as new .. not sure about the part numbers because I haven't gotten my invoice yet

Had my driver side front replaced a month or so ago under warranty, 17 registered x5m 24000 miles. If you attempt to the open the door whilst engaging i find this does it! Over time of course

Reviving old thread here. I have a very similar issue. Just wanna bounce it off you or anyone else. I have an E70 X5 xDrive35i 2013 and both driver and passenger side door the soft close door isn’t pulling the door in far enough anymore. Both pull it but it doesn’t close. No weird noises from the motor or anything.

Do you think it’s that metal cable that stretches inside the door lock ? Is that what yours was?

Double check your battery. Mine was doing something weird like that a while back and I took the car in to BMW. Turns out it was the car battery going bad. Replaced the battery and all was good there after.
