seeking advice for leather water damage door trim X6M

So my wife left window open for several hours as wet snow was falling.
I wiped down and hoped it would disappear after drying, but no such luck.

Leather became waterlogged and it appears that the adhesive became swollen.
It goes down the whole upper leather trim.
This part cannot be ordered individually and is $2,500 for panel.

Any advice on remedies for similar issue? I’m hoping to repair if possible

Oh man. That really stinks. Sorry it happened. I have similar damage at the bottom of one door which is a common issue. I brought it to an upholstery guy and he said he could fix it, but I wouldn't love the result. I never fixed it. With that said, I think in a post about the lower door damage, someone did say they had theirs repaired by an upholstery shop with success. I'll try to find that thread. Hopefully they will chime in here.

I've had my whole dash re upholstered with success when the leather started pulling away from the front windshield. Looks oem and you can't tell the difference. I'd assume the door card would be much easier to do than the dash is which had to be fully removed. Just a matter of finding the right place near you that can do it to a good level of quality.

There really is nothing you can apply to the leather to make that go away. Best solution would be full replacement or a good auto upholstery shop.

I figured as much, I might try to saturate in some kind of conditioner before replacing

I to have this on the bottom of my drivers door right below the door pocket. It doesn't bother as much anymore, as I really don't see it. But as other's have mentioned, replacement is the only solution, unless you can convince BMW to replace it. But good luck, as others have tried without success.
