Anyone with 100k miles here?
Hello!
I'm a 110k miles E92 328 owner. It's getting old I'm planning to purchase/lease a new car. During my 10 years ownership of E92 328, it had many issues due to my lack of maintenance. I'm not a car guy, but I was naive believing that a car like BMW would work without proper maintenance. Now I know better I'm thinking about either X5 or X6 and I would like to how much it would cost to drive it beyond 100k miles. Could you someone with 100k+ miles please give me general idea what you have replaced so far? I'm trying to come up with lease vs purchase ownership cost for 10 years. Thank you in advance! |

You might have better luck posting in the previous generation (E70) section. I’m at 50,000 miles on my 2015 50i, and I am one of the higher mileage owners on here. Only major issue was turbo cooler radiator had a pinhole leak and had to be replaced. I have an extended warranty to 95,000 miles.

As all N series engines it needs a timely oil changes (a bit shorter intervals than BMW recommends IMHO) and will serve you well. Lots of other chassis with that engine going over 100k miles and more Automatic transmission is 8spd and is IMHO very reliable, I would say I never heard anything bad about it F15 generation is mainly trouble free and most of issues come from random electric accessories and comfort features: like electric steering wheel positioning can stop working or comfort access feature decides to act up sometimes. Also some owners say AC is somewhat weak in f15 (compared to some other brands known for their strong AC). However, other than that and maybe couple other odd issues - f15 is a lot more reliable than previous generation and is overall a descent reliable car. Let's just say it's far better in terms of reliability than infamous N54 e series (sorry if I offended anyone lol) Now if you are after V8 twinturbo N63TU - that is another story. Engine is as reliable as N55 I think, but it is more demanding in terms of maintenance and has some other requirements to look for |

I had 110,000 on my 2014 x5 35i before it got totaled. the only maintenance items included regular oil changes, changed spark plugs and brake pads around 50-60k; new brake roters around 75k miles. The car was performing great and I loved it. Ended up buying a 2017 after it got totaled because I was extremely happy with the F15 x5.

After a vast technical update (that's what n63tu stands for) oil consumption is a non issue IMHO. In general with spirited driving - like for me it's a WOT every chance I get destroying Camaros and Mustangs lol - it will usually ask you to add 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes. With calm general driving (like majority of normal drivers do) it won't even ask to add anything
And just to be clear - this is a high performance engine man by BMW classification, IMHO this is as good as it gets in terms of reliability for such engines |

42k, no issues.
As for oil use, not an issue for mine. I drive this like it should be driven. I went through my factory tires in 21k miles. There were cords showing on the rears.... |

I've had my 2017 F16 for one year almost to the day and have just under 22,000 miles, I've tracked it twice, I did have to add two quarts in between the first and second service. Other than that absolutely no problems.
Great car, next is an 2019 M4. KP |

Im at 55k miles at this moment, and run out of warranty already. So I was wondering if I should get rid of it before major repairs or just keep it for another 2yrs until g05 m50i on market. |

https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1512825 Those pics are upside down (at least for me). You just pull off the engine cover (back part) and they are right there. Here is what the replacements look like. Ignore the orange circle. That was for something else. the new hoses are in the top of the picture. |

Other than that, any other common issues? The rear air suspension will leak eventually as it ages. What else? I know there are a lot of issuess on e70 50i, injectors, hpfp, coolant line leak, etc. I hope they fixed all of it on our engine. But I still need to add 1qt oil about every 4-5k miles, which is barely acceptable for now. |

I just bought a used 2014 x351 with 85k- got it from a dealer. I bought this because it was a good deal, I had researched the x5 F15 a fair amount.
At 85k- no rattles or squeaks (the Subarus had noises starting at about 4 years and 45k miles- maintenance would reduce this- but they were a part of the life of the car). Engine and transmission solid. Very smooth and comfortable- no wallowing even at triple digit speed. All the accessories work just like the manual says. I have friends who have new cars of other brands that do not work as well or ride as nice. Programmed maintenance will cost about 25% more than your average brands, if you want to run the car on a budget like I did my Subarus- this will be a bit harder. But IMO- the BMW is not what you get if ever $ counts. I'll still change my own oil and minor maintenance- brake pads & rotors, fluids, etc. But because this will be the family getaway vehicle- up north in winter- it's got to be reliable, so regular dealer service visits are planned. Had I a few more months to save up, i'd have opted for something a bit newer- but this looked immaculate- Msport and loaded. I figure it will need several k$ of maintenance within a year or two- (this is also an offset on the purchase price). I was going to plan on upgrading to a newer x5.0 in a year or two- but I've been very happy with the 3.5- not a race car like i was used to, but not all that far off. A cheap RaceChip RS helped with the acceleration a bit, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this car runs for a while, and what maintenance it will need. I love it when I hear cars ads that compliment themselves on a ranking of 'initial quality'. I tend to keep cars for 8-10 years, or more. Then sell them to friends or family. Initial quality is great, but I'm looking for long haul as well. One quote i've found to be very true in life regardless of what i'm buying, or the brand, or whatnot: "The bitterness of low quality long outlasts the sweetness of low price." Again, I researched BMW for a while, and even with a used car of 85k miles, I'm pretty impressed. That's my 0.018 euros. |

50i owner with 42k miles. Injectors started acting up at 25k miles, replaced them all and spark plugs too. No other issues. Planning to keep until 100k miles.
