Smile BMW X5 Hybrid (F15) edrive40x

Hi all,

I was trying to find information on upgrading the range of the f15 hybrid (BMW X5 edrive40x) - I couldn't really find anything useful.

Has anybody successfully extended the range? By replacing the battery, software upgrades, or other?

Would be great to hear your experience even if it failed (so I don't go down the same road).

Thank you!

Yea some have talked about it as the battery packs are the same footprint as the other much larger amp hour batteries.

I mean it seems plausible that you could take a 120 amp hour battery and place it in the back as their the same size but a little heavier.

But not sure what programming would need to take place.

It be a great mod if doable.

Theirs lots of used battery packs from salvaged cars now on the web.

So it could be done for a reasonable price now.

Problem is the 40e is so rare and not many where sold that I don't see it happening unless someone who knows how to work this tech do a little experimentation . But anything is possible so who knows.
