Great to hear on the manual!
Does this mean if you want European Delivery on the M2 you better do it this year or next?

Going from the excellent DCT to 8 speed torque converter auto in what is the purest M car of its range.
Abomination.

To be honest, the whole industry is sort abandoning what you would traditionally expect in a certain type of vehicle. I'm at the point where I don't really look into these sort of details anymore and just see if the application works as intended. The 8AT in the M5 is a perfect example of this.

Can't believe bmw is working their DCT out of their m cars. I get it the zf is a great transmission...but something about the dct...gonna be missed.

Agree, M2's size is perfect where its at right now. The Mild-Hybrid sounds interesting but, it will require BMW to work around the weight of the car, and the current M2 is already pretty heavy.

Sounds good, however I'd prefer it to retain the current size and work on lowering the weight of the vehicle. Hopefully they will make improvements in areas like steering feel in particular (although I am doubtful) and hopefully it won't look ugly (although again, still doubtful).
Wife and I are currently enjoying the F87 M2C so we likely won't upgrade to the new one unless there are some major upgrades for this generation. |
