Well yes it is a Chevy but not only will this Chevy spank the crap out of our cars it will probably be more mechanically reliable while doing it.

Agree. It may put a lot of pressure even on supercars. Carrera S has the same perf as C7 and costs 120K+. If this car is reliable and the price is atractive it will sell well. And we all know the price of parts to mod it compared to P and BMW.

The base Corvette starts at 51k (MSRP), but the true selling price might be a lot higher due to a dealer markup (at least for the next year or so), don't you think? The same might apply to Z06 when it comes out.

Definitely don't see a ZR1 happening. This new Z06 is S/C and will have surpassed the MSRP of the C6 ZR1. It makes no financial sense to build a ZR1 unless it is a stripped down track monster to deal with the ACR Viper when it gets released.
I dunno... that would be the first time GM would offer the Z06 at such a steep price point.

I could see the C7 Z06 going for $85-95k personally.

The base C7 is 3% more than a base 2013 C6 MSRP, so to get 120k the C7 Z06 would have to start at the C6 ZR1's MSRP of $114k.

Actually, you could HAVE said it better....

If Chevy makes an awesome all-around car rather than simply an awesomely powerful car, then I don't care what the badge is, I'll consider it or at the very least respect what Chevy has accomplished -- and judging by the base Corvette, respect certainly seems in order. If a car ticks all the right boxes, that's good enough for me.

Not that you'd care what I think, but I have little patience or respect for people who either buy a car or dismiss one purely for the badge.

If they claim to be car enthusiasts then they are an embarrassment to all car enthusiasts.

But, if they return and admit they are BMW fanboys who only buy a car because it has a roundel on it, then whatever. Let them miss out on a good sports car.

I doubt $120k. That is just way too much.

But seeing that Camaro Z28 was just priced at $75k. I see the new Z06 being more than that.

My crystal ball says $80-85K base, which would still be a bump over the C6 Z06 but not a huge one. I'm not sure it would be done solely to keep the Z06 priced above the Z28 though, since they're not comparable in their placement relative to their base models or their overall missions (plus the Z28 is intended to be a limited edition). But based on the existence of the Z28 at all and the already very high performance numbers this Z06 will apparently bring to the table, I'm wondering if rather than a ZR1 for this generation we'll instead get a "Corvette Z28", similar to the Viper ACR-X, i.e. little if any power increase, but weight reduction and a hardcore track-oriented design to the point that it's not really usable as a DD anymore, just like the Z28.

Actually, I am pretty sure the most recent carbon fiber rich Z06 option codes put the Z06 into the low 6 figures, about 10-15k less than the ZR1.

My thinking is, this new Z06 will start off at that price point, or a bit above since it will have the power level of the ZR1. I predict it will start at $89,999-96,999 and crack $110k fully loaded, still less than a Zr1, but some overlap onto fully optioned out C6 Z06s.

I've seen a grand total of exactly one ZR1 (and it happened to be broken down on the highway) since it's been released. I see Z06s frequently. If they price the Z06 in the same range as the previous ZR1, they would probably only sell a similar number. Moving up-market is fine, moving to another pricing planet is another.

I bet you've seen more ZR1's, they're just sorta subtle, aside from the goofy hood. Maybe it's being in the south, but I see a reasonable number of them.

I know what to look for from the front, back, and sides, and despite living in the south, I've only seen one ZR1 on the road and two at the track. That said, Dallas having more of a "mine must be bigger than yours" Type A culture than Austin, I can see how Corvettes in general and ZR1s in particular would be more prevalent in that area.
