What's my 335D full brake set up worth?
Hi Guys,
Quick one as I'm not so experienced when it comes to performance/brake mods. I've been made an interesting offer on something rather interesting nd wondered IF I did even pull the trigger, what my OEM set up would fetch. They are standard 335 set up front and back. Discs and Pad still have plenty of life. I replaced them in 2013 but since then have only covered circa 10-15k miles. She's not seen the road as much as I'd like to. ATM calipers are Gold but can be changed to any colour a a small additional price. They will come with everything you need plus I will throw in the braided brake lines too. These are a pretty big upgrade if you've got a 320 / 325 / 330 i or d What would they fetch? |

I'd be curious about this too, I've been considering a BBK for the E93 for a little while.
One thing I've noticed about my E93, even with slightly better than OEM slotted/dimpled discs and EBC Yellowstuff pads, with the amount of mods I've made it just doesn't stop nearly as well as the my lightly modified E92. A recoup on the OEM kit would help towards the massive cost of a BBK. That's the only problem really with braking, anything that provides a significant improvement is deep in the 4 figure territory.

I've been looking at a brake upgrade for a while and looking at different options. You can only get the performance brakes for the front on a 320d which is a pain and made me look at alternatives.

Fronts are a definite fit bro but unsure on the rears.
It's the hub on the rear that may potentially restrict the fitment of the rear brakes. I've been looking into options for mine lol. As for prices.....a couple of hundred possibly? I remember buying a full set of E60 M5 brakes for my 530d. I paid about £400 for the full kit front/rear and they came with floating discs.

Rears is dependant on if they'll fit. Also being up for sale at a certain cost on eBay doesn't mean it will sell

Also if for example you ask £800 for your OE setup people will start to consider cheaper BBK alternatives.
I've sold a few OE sets of brakes when I've upgraded to BBKs etc and tbh I've never got great money for them as people still look at them as only a slight upgrade as they are still standard calipers etc. There was and ront performance BBK setup on eBay and that was up for £750 or best offer and they were nearly brand new.

Guys, I'm not saying that that's what I want. I only had that as guideline price!
I'd also seriously think twice about buying a cheap BBK worth £1000. Somethings not right and one could question it's longevity in comparison to OEM stuff which is proven. That's besides the point in all fairness, the BBK I'm considering is not cheap by any means but was just to get a feeler for what my set up would fetch. |

you will 1 million percent not get what you think for your brake set up. there OEM brake pads and discs. just because they may be a BBK to a 320d does not mean they come with big price tag. i think youll be lucky to get over a few hundred quid for them...if that.

I'd have thought they were worth £400+ as they're a decent size, guess it depends what cars they could be used as an upgrade on.
I sold some 300mm skyline rear brakes for £300 on their own. |

A proper BBK from a well known proven brand like AP/Stoptech is going to set you back £4-5K before install. I couldn't careless where you buy things like spoilers etc from, because at the end of the day they are just bits of painted plastic. But suspension/engine/brake components are a whole different issue. I've wasted enough money to know there are certain things where you do pay for what you get. A set of EBC discs/pads alone costs about £500-600, so what kind of quality do you think your going to get for a BBK kit costing £1K?? Seriously, save your cash, if a decent high performance/reliable BBK was so cheap to produce big brands wouldn't be charging for what they do for their kit. |
