Free Cargo Net

Apparently, some people had no idea about the secret compartment in the trunk and especially the free cargo net wrapped in plastic packaging that is located in the left secret compartment. Everyone who owns a 2014 + X5 should check this compartment to make sure you have your cargo net.

Really? I assume it is part of the rip-off Extended Storage Option that I fell for. At least my sunglasses fit in the holder :-)

Thank you for sharing. Is it possible to take a picture of that secret compartment? Thanks....

Here is a picture of a old X5 trunk but it is the same with the new one.

Circled in Orange is the compartment you pull out to find the cargo net.. the area circled in blue is another compartment but nothing is in it.

monkray I think your right.....didn't tick that box. In UK you get the storage to the left and right and bottom of the 'boot' as part of the massively inflated price we pay

Yea, that's always the first thing I do when I got a new car. Open up every compartment and see what extra space I have.
I do love the compartment below the trunk. It is huge, enough to store some emergency essentials, such as; Umbrella (yes, it is emergency for us here who live in So. Cal), Jacket, etc.

I don't think this applies to vehicles with the 3rd row seating - I have a 3rd row and definitely no net.

My last 4 leased cars were all returned with the cargo net still in the sealed bag. I never find a good use for them.

I don't think there are any differences in the actual car itself either but as far as providing accessories it may be different. I have no idea

The purpose of this thread is to inform X5 owners ( US ) in case they didn't know.
