Chaz's E92 Coupe

Howdy,

I just recently purchased this E92 Coupe. I love it so far.

I used to drive a VW Mk4 GTI that I modified a lot. Looking forward to the comforts of this BMW for my Daily Duty =)

Specs:
2007 E92 Coupe
328 XI
6 Speed Manual
Brushed Aluminum Interior Trim
iDrive

The previous Owner put some matte carbon vinyl wrap on the roof, trunk, gas door and mirror caps. All of which I will be removing asap. Hopefully no clear coat comes with it.

Very few plans for the car as of right now. I had a heavily modified daily driver before this car, and it was not fun haha. I wouldnt be surprised if this car gets 1 or 2 cosmetic mods, and stays stock otherwise.

I have plans to buy a BRZ in the near future to have my fun in =)

Cheers!

In the market for suspension. Been doing some reading and found the Bilstein B12 kit is very popular, but I'm reading a lot of mixed reviews on it's comfort level. Some say better than stock, some say it's more harsh. Some say it's softer than stock.

This car is more a daily to me, and comfort is really number 1. I'd like to close the gap a little to make some wheels fit nicer. But i will not compromise the ride quality, because after driving a heavily modified car for 5 years with stiff suspension... I'm just over it.

Maybe just spring with stock shocks? Eibach Pro Kit springs seems to be most popular amoungst you e92 guys.

More research to be done for now...

I'm familar with Coilovers. I've had coilovers and air suspension on my last car. I've never ridden in a car with coilovers that had the comfort of stock suspension. So I'm not looking to go that route with this car.

Just springs with stock shocks and struts will be very bouncy and not comfortable.

Suggest on Shocks? Since the "B12" Kit is not available for the XI.

I'm reading Eibach Springs are the way to go. I'm just not sure about shocks.

There's no solution for Air suspension for the XI. Which is really depressing. I wish I read into the limitation of the XI models before I purchased this.

Removed the Vinyl!

So I bought the car with that carbon fiber look-a-like vinyl on it. And really didnt like it at all. Not my style. I finally got around to removing it this weekend.

I was going to pay a reputable vinyl shop near by to take it off, because I was worried about clear coat removal, but on a whim decided to give it a try on my own first.

The previous owner had put Vinyl on the Mirror caps, gas door, roof, and trunk. I decided to start with the mirror caps, Something easy, small, and if it pulled clear coat off. I could at least cheaply re-spray the mirror covers and have a shop remove the rest of the vinyl.

I let the car sit in the sun for awhile, then with just a finger nail went at it. After 4.5 hours I had removed every piece of vinyl from the car with no issues. Found a couple small surprises on the roof. Some rock chips that went pretty deep in the paint and were covered up with the vinyl. But a little touch up and they're hardly noticible anymore.

Here's some photos of the before and After.

I'm really happy with how it came out. I love the car even more now =)

Still researching suspension set ups. Talked to my buddy who specalizes in air ride installs about making airlift front struts work on the XI. We'll see what happens...

Sorry I havn't been around this thread. Not that anyone cares haha.

I've been building my bike over the last couple months. Car hasnt had a single change besides snows, and back to summer tires.

Here's a couple photos of my bike: 2013 Honda CBR 600RR
