Yes they do Carlos - upto 6 airbags. Driver front and passenger, front to rear head airbags and front side airbags. Not as many as the 'turnips' put in Volvos though with their SIPS thing and FULL curtains.

you should have "airbag" labels all over the car, you see them on the dash, headliner next to the windscreen and labels on the seats, according to BMW:-
Safety and technology Airbags - driver and front passenger, front and side and ITS head airbags I recall on fifth gear, they had a modern supermini crashing into a old tank estate volvo and the modern NCAP small car came of better! |

ITS head airbags. Working together with the side airbags, the ITS head airbags provide superior protection in the event of a side impact. It inflates diagonally across the side windows and protects your head from injury and from intruding objects. ITS stands for Inflatable Tubular Structure. The cylindrical airbag is integrated in the frame above the door and, thanks to its honeycomb structure, it inflates extremely quickly. The intelligent deployment electronics measure a range of values and inflate the airbags within milliseconds across the side windows and over the seatbelt height adjuster, ensuring the best protection for the occupant, irrespective of their size or seating position. Together with the side airbags, the ITS head airbags lead to a 200 percent improvement in side-impact safety. |

I know a man who'd probably do that if he could - as long as he's alright Carlos, ALL the 3 series has 6 airbags. Upto means a maximium of IMO. |

You used to be able to get rear side airbags for the e46, but I don't think they are an option any more. I guess they were actually dangerous if you had kids in the back of the car. |

Doesn't the answer to this kind of thing reside in the manual or in the spec list on the BMW website?

Funningly enough Bumps - it does
But that would require an intense injection of application on the part of the original postee |

Don't the Americans also get knee airbags thanks to Californian legislation?

Looking at the NCAP site reminded me of a question I had back last year, which is that while it's great that the E90 got 5 stars, surely the E92 (and even more E93) are quite different cars, so why hasn't BMW put forward the E92 for NCAP testing? http://www.euroncap.com/tests/bmw_3_..._2005/225.aspx BMW 3 Series - the rating "applies to all new 3-series". But this was tested in 2005 before the E92 was out...

No mate, all have 6, and the ITS side one that comes out of the trim next to your head where the roof lining meets the door seals, tries to cover the rear window area and then the drivers window diagonaly from the bottom of the A piller where it meets the dash to the top of the rear window...
It does mean however that at approx 5Kg's each, you could ditch 5 of them, save a whopping 25Kg's and then your heavy weight 335d with its extra hair dryer would almost be at the same weight as a 330d!! ant. |
