Relay Harness for Xenon HID (ddm tuning)?

Question - when installing aftermarket HIDs with the Angel eyes (in a car that was originally with halogens), do you recommend getting a relay harness as to not power them directly from the electrical system (direct battery connection). This is what I did on cars in the past - not sure if I would have to do this for my F30...
